Introducing API Feeds on Follow.it
We’re excited to introduce a new type of feed on follow.it: API feeds, designed to deliver the content you care about most.
What are API feeds?
So far, the sources for feeds on follow.it were either websites (RSS feeds), or publishers entering messages manually. By introducing APIs as a new source, you gain access to a wider range of highly tailored feeds.
To kick it off, we put some first feeds live that send you:
- Weather reports for your specific location
- Offline alerts when your website goes down
- Exchange rate changes – either regular reports, or when a currency falls below a threshold
- New YouTube videos that match your criteria
- SSL notifications to alert you when the certificate on your website expires
You can find all these feeds in the API feeds tab (as well as in the standard follow.it directory).
Much more to come
In the upcoming weeks and months, we plan to expand our platform with many more API feeds that will alert you about:
- Sport results from your favorite team (football, basketball, handball, rugby etc.)
- Changes in prices for cryptocurrencies and stocks
- Text changes on any website you specify
- Changes in your website’s ranking in Google
- Earthquake and other natural disasters
…and much more! Don’t miss out on when we launch them by following this blog.
API feeds can typcially be followed once for free. For multiple subscriptions or to access selected premium features, an upgrade will be required. Rest assured, our pricing is extremely fair. Also: upgrading once allows you to enjoy your premium benefits for all API feeds!
Explore our directory now to follow a few API feeds. If you have ideas for feeds you’d like to see, please share them with us. We’re always eager for inspiration on what to build next.
