General

We spent two full days, three days may be optimal.
We took cab from train station, wasn’t a good metro option for us. Uber was cheap (~$5)
We did have some Czech money, but never had a situation where only cash was accepted
It did not feel very crowded, but we were there on Monday and Tuesday, in mid-May
We did not use public transportation as everything was walkable (except going to the castle, see below)
We didn’t use any tour guides but had Rick Steves Pocket Prague guide which was very helpful.

AirBNB

Was 5 minutes or so from Clock, Jilska 52

Was around $400 for 3 nights, pretty nice place

Food

Vejvodu – went there the first night as it was getting late and this was next door. Our AirBNB host said it was good, but reviews online are bad. We thought it was fine, there was bunch of locals there watching the national Czech hockey team play.
Strahov Monastery Brewery – this was at the monastery near the Castle, I thought it was really good, with good beer. But it did not have a view as some other places did around there
Kiosks in Old Town Square – these are obvisouly touristy, but one of them has potato pancakes that you can get with varous toppings . They are deep fried. I would definitely recomment this to atelast try one as this was unique
Betlemske Kaple- this was highly recommended by our AirBNB host and Rick Steves. Tradional food, we did lunch and thought it was very good. Try the draft lemonade
Pizzeria L’Orologio – We only went here to sit outside by the Clock in Old Town Square. Pizza was actually ok, but seems like all the places in the Square are overpriced and not very good.

Prague Castle Quarter

We did both of these areas on one day, took up most of the day
Castle

- Although it wasn’t crowded for us, it supposedly gets very crowded, opens at 9am, the most crowded part was the Catherdral
- We took the Tram to the Castle, its uphill from old town

- - Tram 22/23 make a stop at Prazsky Hrad, which is by the northern entrance
  - To ride Tram, just get on and buy a ticket inside from a machine, just pick the cheapest ticket and use credit car

- There are several ticket options. The basic ticket has the main sites, there are a couple thing you can add. We added the “the Story of Prague” exhibition, it was just ok, probably wouldn’t recommend.
- We used the RS book, but you can get an audioguide. There was english language signs explaining some things

Near Castle

- We walked around but there was a couple of things you can go into, Monastery and Loreta Church, we ate at the monastery brewery
- Definitely try to stop in the Church of Our Lady Victorious. It has one of Prague treasured items, a small baby jesus statue, with museum of different clothes
- John Lennon wall is also nearby

Old town area/St Charles Bridge

We followed the RS tour, which was helpful as it pointed out a couple of things we might not have seen, it also explained the statues on Charles Bridge
Some of the churches we went into in Old town were closed on Monday
Interesting item – In church of Saint James, as you walk out look to the far upper left – mummified arm hanging on wall which legend has it was a thief that touch the Mary statue and the statue grabbed it, had to cut if off to free the thief

Wenceslas Square

This is a long square with shopping. Probably worth walking on both sides, there is construction on part of it
Not directly on the square, there is an interesting statue in the Lucerna Arcade (on right side if facing the National Museum) of Wenceslas on an upside horse.
The National Museum, at the end of the square, might we worth going to, we didn’t have time.

Jewish Quarter

We just walked around quickly. Most of the buildings except the synagogues have been rebuilt so the neighborhood is nice but nothing that unique. You need to buy a ticket to get into all of them (maybe 5-6 synagogues including an old cemetery). If we had more time this would be the area I would spend more time.

Other

Dancing House – this is a 15min walk from Old Town, very cool building, but not much else nearby
Lesser town – this are is uphill on the side of the river with the castle. It has a Eiffel Tower replica
Mucha Musuem – Mucha is a artist, one of his greatest works, the Slav Epic
Rotating Head – sclupture of Kafta, a famous czeck artist from the 1800, sculpture by Cerny, a famous modern arisit with stuff all over Prague.
