Jawaharlal Nehru University has terminated Professor Bimol Akoijam with immediate effect following an inquiry into allegations of harassment.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s healthcare expansion under the BJP government, citing an increase in medical colleges from 36 in 2017 to 85. He also emphasised expanded medical education and health insurance coverage for over 10 crore people.

Questioning the decision, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant said, “Everybody does not have a car… You cannot bring everything to a halt and leave people without any transport facility.”
