What do you all use for magnification for working on through hole board type of work? Net necessarily smt type of microscope but thinking loupe glasses or something. My eyes have gotten to the point readers just don't cut it anymore.

Found this in my parts selection. I don't know if it's a specific radio part or an aftermarket item. Almost looks like some sort of channel board, but I'm just guessing. I have no information or paperwork I can find.

So, I picked all this up for $20 - I was told it powered up last time they used but when I got home, zero power on 12v or 110. I haven't repaired anything like this before - what is the first thing you'd test? I have a multimeter!
