Weird Universe

Beginning in the 1950s, Hallmark sold regionally customized versions of the Snoopy poster below. Card shops could order copies with the name of a local school or university inserted at the beginning of Snoopy's statement.



The posters sold well... until the early 1980s when schools started to complain. At which point Hallmark promptly discontinued them....

The UPI story below ran in many papers, but it got one central fact wrong. Nancy Tattoli didn't order snails for her meal. In fact, the Limehouse was a Chinese restaurant and didn't serve snails. Which made it much stranger that a live snail not only ended up on a diner's plate but was trying to crawl off of it.

At a recent art exhibition a collector bid $4000 for what he thought was a work of contemporary art. It was actually a vacuum cleaner left in a corner of the gallery by the cleaning crew.
