His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, inaugurated the proceedings of the First International Conference on Modern Engineering Trends, organized by the University of Bahrain, represented by the College of Engineering and Deanship of Graduate studies and Scientific Research, via video conferencing, with the participation of a distinguished group of academics, experts, and researchers from various countries around the world.

His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Environment affirmed that accelerating progress in engineering and technology fields necessitates directing innovation pathways toward practical solutions that support the achievement of sustainable development goals. This can be done by developing reliable systems, enhancing industrial process efficiency, and building resilient infrastructure capable of keeping pace with rapid changes. He pointed out that employing artificial intelligence technologies and advanced analytics is an important pillar in supporting engineering decision-making, provided it is used with a deliberate and responsible methodology, thereby contributing to improved performance efficiency, enhanced resilience, and practical results.

His Excellency also emphasized the importance of integrating roles among academic institutions, government entities, and the industrial sector in preparing national competencies and enabling them to efficiently utilize emerging technologies with clarity of vision and objectives, thus supporting development pathways and achieving sustainable outcomes.

His Excellency expressed his gratitude to the University of Bahrain for its efforts in organizing and preparing the conference, commending the role of the College of Engineering, the organizing committees, and all participants in making this scientific event a success.

For his part, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, affirmed that the university continues to strengthen its position as a leading academic institution contributing to national development pathways through scientific research and innovation, and by adopting initiatives that keep pace with global developments, particularly in engineering and technical fields. He noted that this conference aligns with the university’s ongoing commitment to enhancing partnerships with various sectors and providing a stimulating academic environment for exchanging knowledge and expertise, thereby contributing to preparing qualified cadres capable of meeting future requirements and various challenges.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain, explained that the college organized the conference to the highest scientific and organizational standards. The scientific program features key modern engineering trends and attracts leading specialists, researchers, and students, thereby enhancing the quality of scientific outputs and fostering the exchange of expertise among participants.

She pointed out that the conference aims to explore recent developments in engineering and modern technologies while enhancing scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange among academic, research, and industrial institutions. This will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that support sustainable development pathways and keep pace with rapid global transformations.

The conference covers several important topics that reflect key modern trends in the engineering sector. These include smart processes and energy sector transformation, advanced manufacturing and industrial technology, and engineering management within the framework of Industry 5.0. The program also features applications of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies across various engineering fields, advanced energy and industrial systems, as well as innovation in sustainable architecture, smart infrastructure development, and construction and transportation technologies.

The conference will also feature 216 scientific papers, selected from 500 submissions by researchers and professors locally and internationally. In addition, 47 parallel discussion sessions will bring together contributors from approximately 50 countries to cover the latest developments and scientific literature across various engineering disciplines. The program also includes presentations on practical applications of modern technologies. Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, in accordance with the quality standards of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
