A 35-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of suspected illicit cigarettes valued at approximately R7.5 million on the N1, Vaal Plaza on Tuesday, 02 June 2026. The Isuzu truck used to transport the goods was also seized.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Parys Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of suspected illicit cigarettes.

The C-BRTA and other law enforcement authorities are currently curbing unsafe road behaviour and illegal cross-border operations at Baobab Toll Plaza, Musina, Limpopo Province.
