I’ve got a Maxwell 3500 windlass and I can’t for the life of me figure out what is going on. Worked fine a few months ago. Sat all winter. Went to use it and no matter how tight I turn the top the chain gypsy doesn’t want to do any work. The capstan turns freely and I can put a load on it with a line but under the lightest chain load the gypsy just slips while the capstan turns....

Don't give up on the old hardware.

One of my gate latches had lost its sliding-knob long ago and the bolt was jammed-open, gravity was the only thing holding the gate closed.
Order some bronze rod from mcmaster carr and have a bit of a tinkering session in the garage, and good as new.

I live on the west coast of Florida and looking for someone to install a fixed hard door instead of canvas and plastic on the back of the upper saloon. I could go to the east coast as well. Thank you.

I have lost count of how many trawler ads say "Great Loop Proven", some ever to says "twice".

So what???? Is this some badge of ability? May as well say ICW proven? Or boat floats and can move from place to place.

The only thing far as Great Loop is the bridge height issue.

Maybe I don't get it.

When I look at 1980 trawlers the engines have less or the same main engine hours as my 2001 sailboat did (I did 2000 hours in 7.5 years plus I of course did sailed sometimes). I am pretty much at the point of accepting this low to me hours and figure if they survey out the odds are they are good.

BUT I am starting to feel maybe the same should not be said about generato...
