a month or so ago – it is my favourite city in Australia, and I get there at least a couple of times a year to visit customers.

This time I took my Contax II camera with me. The Kodak Retina I usually carry on these trips is a wonderful camera, but being a viewfinder with no way of focusing closer in without a tape measure, I sometimes miss focus in low light situat...

which is celebrated every year on 19th August, which commemorates the development of the daguerreotype, the first photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre in 1837.

This process was officially announced by the French government as a gift to the world on August 19 1839, and the rest is history!
