Actually a Dogwood Spittle Bug-Clastoptera proteus.  Very tiny, maybe the size of a half rice grain. The post title comes from a Facebook friend who saw it as that.  I totally did not until he mentioned it. As they say, “Now I can’t unsee it”.

Mountain Laurel to be precise.  I look forward to mid June for the Kalmia latifolia blooms.  There have been some down years, I guess as they rest, but this has been a good one in most of the places I visit.

The color is fading at this point but it is yellow. It’s a species that like sunlight although we have it in mixed light.
