SAN DIEGO — Austin Hill checked off a long-awaited milestone Saturday night, surviving a chaotic race to win the United Rentals Driven to Serve 250 at Naval Base Coronado for his first career road course victory.
“It’s extremely special, just to finally check that box of getting that road course win, we’ve been so close so many times,” Hill said.
Taylor Gray took the lead with just two laps to go Saturday afternoon in the 60-lap San Diego Street Course race on Naval Base Coronado. However, Gray could not hold off a hard charging Austin Hill, who overtook the driver of the No. 54 Toyota GR Supra on the final lap.
