It was awfully hard to tell the difference between an unavoidable death spiral and the routine malaise of a typical February. I've been off the board for a month, lumbering between work, domestic mundanity, volunteer stuff, and the numbing distractions of my phone. It could be my age, or the absence of sunlight, but my lack of zeal for after-hours writing felt insurmountable....
