THERE was a cultural exchange in Bergen recently as the Shetland Youth Orchestra (SYO) travelled to Norway for its annual summer school. A total of 35 bairns and eight adults made the 45-minute flight to Bergen last week for four days of rehearsals and sight-seeing.

NUMEROUS jarl squads joined in the fun at the lifeboat gala day in Aith earlier today (Saturday). An annual fixture in the Shetland summer calendar since 1972, the gala day also offered a range of family-friendly activities including games, stalls and refreshments.
