Ethanol in petrol has caused multiple fires in classic cars. The Series V Alpines are vulnerable because ethanol can make the nylon T Piece between the carburettors leak petrol onto the exhaust pipes. My wife had been complaining about not having a place to put a bottle of water or cup of coffee in the Alpine. After some thought, I came up with this solution. I made it out of wire from the frame of a yard sign. Bent up, welded and then painted. She hasn't used it yet, but I think it should do the job. Very easy to install and remove as needed.

First time poster here. Thanks for this forum. I'm rebuilding a 1592 for my SII Alpine. Road use only. I have purchased 'JP' brand pistons and rings (+030") down here in Australia and had the block bored to suit.
