The Royal Malta Yacht Club, in collaboration with Yachting Malta, will be hosting the Yachting Malta Race Week — a multi-day programme running from 11th to 21st September.

Bringing together offshore racers, keelboat fleets, dinghy sailors, and newcomers to the sport, the Yachting Malta Race Week is designed to cater to a wide audience. Whether the draw is competitive racing, a relaxed offshore passage, or the social events that run alongside the sailing programme, there is something on the calendar for sailors of every level and inclination.

Malta to Licata Race

Friday 11th September

The week kicks off with the Malta to Licata Race, an offshore passage race to the Sicilian port of Licata. For competitive crews, this is an ideal opportunity to clock offshore miles ahead of the Rolex Middle Sea Race — a real test of boat handling and teamwork in open water. Sailors who prefer a more relaxed pace are equally welcome: the format suits those who’d rather enjoy a long cruise there and back, with plenty of time for socialising along the way.

The race counts towards the Offshore Challenge Trophy.

Steering The Course

Tuesday 15th – Thursday 17th September

A World Sailing initiative supported by the International Olympic Committee, Steering The Course is one of the most meaningful events on the Race Week calendar. Its aim is to introduce women and girls across the globe to the sport of sailing, while also opening up alternative pathways — coaching, officiating, and beyond — for those already involved in the sport.

Race Week’s inclusion of this event reflects the RMYC’s commitment to a more diverse and inclusive sailing community.

Ramla Bay Keelboat Races

Friday 18th – Monday 21st September

Racing returns to one of the RMYC’s most beloved venues with the Ramla Bay Keelboat Races — three days of competition in the stunning waters off northern Malta and Comino. For those who remember the Ramla Bay Regattas of years past, this is a welcome return to form, with the shoreline buzzing with competitors, families, and sailing enthusiasts throughout.

The fleet races across two formats:

IRC 1, IRC 2 & SB20s — 3 races per day, with a single first start each morning

IRC Cruisers & RMYC Club — 2 Coastal Races per day, rounding the waters off northern Malta and Comino
