I can imagine plenty of times and places where Jews might have needed to have ID/papers/documents on them at all times, either if the authorities stopped them, or even to gain entry to the synagogue. Have our responsa addressed this issue on Shabbos (with no eruv)? If so, were there arguments for leniency, and did they include anything other than pikuach nefesh?
