Lloyd Jackson "Jack" Simmons, a beloved husband, father, and dedicated community member, was born on July 25, 1944, in Pickens, South Carolina. He peacefully passed away on January 29, 2026, in Taylors, South Carolina, leaving a profound legacy of love, strength, and compassion in the hearts of those who knew him.

A proud graduate of Greer High School '62, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably and met the love of his life, Monica Agnes "Ginger" Simmons, while both were stationed in Homestead, Florida. Their shared commitment to service forged a bond that would last a lifetime.

After their military service, Jack and Ginger settled in Greenville, South Carolina, where he dedicated over two decades of his career to Bi-Lo, rising to the role of Warehouse Distribution Manager before retiring in 1996. His work ethic, integrity, and dedication to his job were admired by many, and he took great pride in contributing to his community.

In 1994, driven by a desire to focus on his health and well-being, Jack embraced an active lifestyle that included owning Gold's Gym in Loehmann's Plaza and repairing workout equipment. He became an enthusiastic runner, achieving the remarkable feat of completing numerous half marathons, four major marathons, and 25 Cooper River Bridge Runs alongside his daughter, Krista, with their last run together in 2019. Jack's passion for fitness inspired those around him and showcased his unwavering determination and zest for life.

Jack had a deep appreciation for family and cherished the time spent with his loved ones. His remarkable spirit is further exemplified by his love for classic cars, particularly his cherished 1966 convertible Chevelle, which continues to be a treasured part of the family.

His legacy of love will continue on in the hearts of his loving wife over 60 years, Ginger; their two wonderful children, Doug Simmons and wife, Katie, and Krista Mayberry and husband, Danny; two adoring grandchildren, Tyler Simmons and wife, Lexi, and Tiffany Simmons and partner, John Odom III; one precious great grandson, Oliver Simmons; siblings, Johnny Simmons (Carol), Janet Osborne; and brother-in-law, Ken Pennington.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, Jean Pennington.

The family invites those who knew and loved Jack to celebrate his extraordinary life on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes Downtown, with a memorial service with Military Honors to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.

In recognition of his service and support for fellow veterans, the family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Upstate Warrior Solutions for their dedication and assistance.
