Michael G. Richer (b. 1964) is a Canadian astronomer of the Instituto de Astronomía, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has held leadership positions in administration and on instrumental projects, in addition to teaching regularly and contributing to outreach. Michael has published over 90 refereed papers, focusing mainly upon planetary nebulae.

Annabel K. S. Karunananth (b. 2020) is the daughter of Canadian astronomers Helen Kirk (National Research Council of Canada) and Karun Thanjavur (University of Victoria). The parents are close friends of the first discoverer.
