Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 12:50PM KIA ORA BLOODLINES TO HEADLINES HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

3. St Gotthard finds a good set up to run well on debut after a couple of nice trials. He’s a $2.7m colt, drawn nicely and jockey booking significant given the stable runners. Full brother to Switzerland and chance to kick off with a win.

Dangers: 6. Whitehall was no cheapie either, costing $1.8m being out of a half-sister to Winx. Merit in both his lead up trials with the latest of those just last Friday. Respect. 8. Peyton drew wide and had to go back at Kensington a few weeks ago and while he’d had enough on the line he ran well to finish in third. Big barrier turnaround and a firmer track may suit too. 1. Lafite is a $1.4m colt and a full brother to Group 1 winner Schwarz on debut. He’s been scratched a couple of times lately, with most recent trial over a month ago. Market a good pointer.

Race 2 - 1:25PM HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

1. Bangkok Hottie wasn’t fancied on debut in the Kindergarten but she hit the line nicely from back in the field to finish fifth. Back in class, drawn kinder so expect she’ll be closer in the run and the extra 100m will be a plus. Sure to run well.

Dangers: 3. Capital Illusion cost just the $45,000 and she comes into this on the back of an impressive trial win at Rosehill two weeks ago. Always respect the stable’s youngsters and she can be competitive on what she’s shown. 6. Victorious Ruler held her ground to run third at Kensington on a day you needed to be up on the rail. Jumps from the inside and open to some improvement. 8. Your Colour produced her best trial when runner-up to Nations League earlier this month. Draws well, jockey booking says she is worth some thought.

How to play it: Bangkok Hottie WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 2:00PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

6. Eynesbury has the outside but a big opportunity to go forward and get into the race. Excellent from well back at Rosehill on Easter Monday where it was hard to make ground from where she was back and wide. Racing well and big chance if she gets the right run.

Dangers: 2. Above The Law looks the leader from his wide gate and is ready for the step up to the mile after placings in two runs at 1300m this time in. Sure to give a good account up on speed. 4. Love ‘N’ Glory went around a $71 chance at his debut at Bendigo and ran on strongly from well back to get into a close second. Hard to line up him but shapes as though the trip will suit. Check betting. 1. Freddie Bassett was sent out favourite when resuming at Wyong in a metro midweek race and while he had his chance he held his ground in a blanket finish. Blinkers on and gate one so he can lift.

How to play it: Eynesbury EACH-WAY ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:35PM RACING AND SPORTS HANDICAP (2400 METRES)

6. De Louviere found himself in an awkward spot on the turn in a similar race two weeks ago and was far from disgraced running into this. Gets a smaller field, extra 200m and a weight swing in his favour so expect him to be hard to beat.

Dangers: 2. Stylebender was the winner of that race and the way he’s racing at the moment he can’t be left out of anything. Rises 2kg on that win but does run the trip out strong and is in career best form at present. 1. Casual Connection found the lead third-up and showed improvement when boxing on for second at Kensington three weeks ago. Jumps to the 2400m but in the small field might get some control and take some running down. 5. Autumn Winter is an up and comer who posted his first Australian win at Wyong when up to a middle distance. Drops nicely in weight and could go on with it.

How to play it: De Louviere WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 3:10PM TAB HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

5. Bryant doesn’t often get the softest of runs but is sure to get a back to follow this time in a race with a bit of speed on here. Sweeping Midway win two starts back then not suited here two weeks ago when up close and wide. Good each-way chance at least.

Dangers: 11. Sanctified has won once in 11 starts but the form around him last preparation looks pretty handy with a placing behind Plaintiff. Nicely drawn and can run well fresh. 7. Ready To Shine got the run through to finish second two weeks ago in a similar race to this and he’s a chance if he can hold that form. 1. Mawjood is an interesting one resuming on the back of a couple of strong trial wins. Claim helps and expect he'll make his own luck on speed.

How to play it: Bryant EACH-WAY ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 3:45PM ASAHI SUPER DRY HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

5. Surf’s Up found herself back in a small field in a race that she wasn’t able to get into at all. Happy to forgive that, she was favourite there, and back on top of the ground she’s a big chance to bounce back to her best with a bit of luck in running.

Dangers: 2. Rantan has another shot at 1200m and might be ready for it now from a soft gate. Drew the outside and went right back before storming into fourth late over 1000m two weeks ago. Definite chance. 10. Hellabella pounced on the lead and was able to hold them off at Rosehill second-up on a day where it was handy to be up on speed and close to the fence. Will give a sight again. 11. Maquisa won well first-up to finally break through and last time out at Wyong just missed in similar grade to this. Each-way claims.

How to play it: Surf’s Up WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 4:20PM VINNIE @ YARRAMAN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

3. Miss Freelove is a smart filly resuming since a solid win at the Gold Coast in a good form race. Latest trial was strong and while she will likely settle midfield or worse and look to be hitting the line hard. Group placed in the spring and sure to be competitive.

Dangers: 6. Crepe Myrtle has done nothing wrong in four starts for Joe Pride for two wins and two seconds. Wouldn’t expect her to do anything but run well fresh off a trial win. 4. Golden Straand won twice in October including once at this track and is ready to run well fresh after a handy trial effort behind Lady Of Camelot last Friday. 2. Skyglider is a big watch first-up since contesting the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes back in November. Has wins over the likes of Sixties and Pallaton from his first two starts but must have had an issue or two given his trial schedule since. Market the guide.

How to play it: Miss Freelove WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 8 - 4:55PM HEADWATER @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Montpellier looks close to a win after two excellent runs from a break over shorter trips. Just outsprinted at the end of 1400m last time but the mile suits now and he should get a perfect run in behind them. Should be a major player.

Dangers: 9. Hereward resumes at a mile which is interesting as his best form last time in was around this trip and he kicked off that prep over 1200m. Trial a little head scratching but drawn well and on his best he’s a contender. 11. Strawberry Impact doesn’t know how to run a bad race and was excellent when resuming in a Provincial-Midway Champs heat running third at Kembla almost a month ago. Mile suits and can run on again. 5. Dreams Come True did a good job resuming a month ago in a similar sort of race where she was narrowly beaten. She’s won second-up previously and in an open race is one of the chances again.
