Implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning system can transform how a business operates. 1. Grow Digital Voucher

For smaller companies, the Grow Digital Voucher is available to you.

The voucher provides grant assistance equal to 50% of eligible project costs, with a minimum grant of €500 and a maximum cumulative grant of €5,000. A business can potentially undertake two Grow Digital projects, but the combined grant cannot exceed €5,000.

Eligible businesses generally must:

Have between one and 50 paid employees.
Have traded for at least six months.
Have current tax clearance.
Not be an Enterprise Ireland or IDA client.
Have completed a Digital for Business project during the previous two years.

Businesses must also satisfy the relevant financial thresholds under the EU definition of a small enterprise. The scheme supports new, off-the-shelf business software for a maximum initial subscription period of one year. Eligible examples specifically include order management, stock control, industry-specific cloud software, job tracking, field service management, workflow management, electronic invoicing and analytics software.

There are some important limitations. Bespoke software development is not eligible, adding extra licences to software already in use does not qualify, and expenditure incurred too early in the application process may be excluded. 2. Digital for Business Support

Before applying for the Grow Digital Voucher, an eligible business must normally complete a Digital for Business project.

Through this Local Enterprise Office support, a digital consultant reviews the company’s existing systems, identifies gaps and explores opportunities to improve or integrate its technology. The consultant can also provide guidance on implementing new digital solutions.

For a manufacturing company, this review might examine how quotations, bills of materials, purchasing, production scheduling, stock movements and financial reporting currently interact.

For a field service company, it could assess the process from the initial customer call through scheduling, engineer attendance, parts usage, job completion and invoicing.

This stage is valuable because an ERP project should begin with the business processes rather than the software. The resulting report can help the company define its requirements and identify the digital investments that may be suitable for a subsequent Grow Digital application.

Digital for Business is not intended to support routine upgrades that produce no significant business improvement. A stronger project will demonstrate how integrated technology can remove manual work, improve visibility and change how the organisation operates.

3. Enterprise Ireland Digital Discovery Grant

For Enterprise Ireland-supported businesses, the Digital Discovery Grant can help a company investigate its digital requirements before committing to a major investment.

The support provides up to 80% funding, subject to a maximum grant of €5,000, to engage an external digital expert. It is designed to help businesses establish stronger digital foundations and explore how new technologies could support growth and competitiveness.

In the context of ERP, a Digital Discovery project could potentially cover work such as:

Mapping current manufacturing or service processes.
Identifying duplicated systems and spreadsheets.
Defining ERP requirements and priorities.
Reviewing data quality and migration requirements.
Identifying integration requirements.
Developing a digital transformation roadmap.
Building a business case for investment.

This support is best viewed as a way to plan and de-risk an ERP project rather than as funding for the software licence itself.

4. Digital Process Innovation Grant

Companies planning a larger transformation may wish to explore Enterprise Ireland’s Digital Process Innovation Grant.

The grant can provide 50% of eligible costs, up to a maximum grant of €150,000. It supports companies introducing new or significantly improved digital production methods, digital service delivery or organisational methods.

This support is particularly relevant where ERP is not simply replacing an accounting package but is enabling a significant new way of working.

A qualifying manufacturing project might use ERP to:
