Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Peter B. Parker are back in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." The movie is a stunning thrill ride, but when it reaches its conclusion, viewers might realize that it doesn't wrap up everything in a nice bow. Instead, it leaves you with a bunch of cliffhangers.

If you stick around through the end credits, you'll learn that the story will continue in "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse," but you might be left with some big questions - particularly, how long you'll have to wait for the next chapter! Here's what we know so far.

"Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" Release Date

Way back in 2021, producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller confirmed that "Across the Spider-Verse" - the sequel to 2018's "Into the Spider-Verse" - would actually be split into two films. Originally, both were supposed to be released in 2023. Now, "Beyond the Spider-Verse" is set to be released March 29, 2024. Like "Across the Spider-Verse," "Beyond" is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson.

"Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" Cast

It seems the entire "Across the Spider-Verse" voice cast will return for the sequel - plus, some faces from "Into the Spider-Verse" who are seen at the very end of the film. Shameik Moore voices Miles Morales, our man Spider-Man. Hailee Steinfeld voices Gwen Stacy, one of many characters who uses the moniker Spider-Woman. Oscar nominees Brian Tyree Henry voices Miles's dad, Jefferson Davis, and Luna Lauren Vélez voices his mom, Rio Morales. Jake Johnson is the slightly disheveled Peter B. Parker.

Other members of the cast include Oscar Isaac as the slightly sinister Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar, aka Spider-Man India; Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart "Hobie" Brown, aka Spider-Punk; and Jason Schwartzman as the villain known as the Spot.

And at the end of "Across the Spider-Verse," viewers see fan favorites from the first film that didn't have large roles in the sequel: John Mulaney's Peter Porker, aka Spider-Ham; Kimiko Glenn's Peni Parker; and Nicolas Cage as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man Noir. It looks like they'll play a big part in the third Miles Morales animated film.

"Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" Plot

At the end of "Across the Spider-Verse," Miles has been trapped in an alternate universe (where things are really weird), and Gwen, Peter B. Parker, and their friends unite to try to rescue him. Meanwhile, Miguel O'Hara and Jessica Drew are on his tail because Miles's attempts to save his family might destroy the very fabric of the Spider-Verse. How it'll all shake out is still a mystery.

Halle Bailey's live-action "The Little Mermaid" movie has created a new generation of Disney fans. In the nearly 35 years since the original film's release, Disney has turned the animated treasure into a live-action adventure, complete with realistic underwater graphics and a beautifully developed storyline. While it sticks true to the original movie's plot and themes we're familiar with, the updated story also dives deeper into Ariel and Eric's relationships with their families, as well as their relationship with each other.

At its core, the film is an enchanting rendition of a classic that many kids of all ages - and adults - are likely to fall in love with after a single watch. There are a few notable themes and scenes throughout the movie, though, that might upset younger viewers - not like the original grim fairy-tale that inspired the animated film, but still. How Long Is the Live-Action "The Little Mermaid" Movie?

The 1989 "The Little Mermaid" movie had a total run time of 83 minutes, or one hour and 23 minutes. The live-action version of the film is 135 minutes long, or two hours and 15 minutes. While the newer movie is significantly longer, the in-depth peek into Ariel's life underwater and her bond with Prince Eric are definitely worth the extra 45 minutes. Of course, if you're planning to see the movie in theaters, you might want to prepare to take bathroom breaks with your little ones in between or hit pause if you're watching at home.

What Is the Live-Action "The Little Mermaid" Movie Rated?

The original "The Little Mermaid" film is rated G, making it suitable for just about anyone. The live-action movie is rated PG for some scenes that depict characters in peril and themes that might be scary for younger viewers. Generally, movies rated PG are OK for children 8 years old and older. If your child is younger and can't wait to see the Disney movie, read ahead for a few scenes to keep an eye on.

Is the Live-Action "The Little Mermaid" Movie Scary For Kids?

While the movie is pretty digestible for all ages, there are a couple of scenes that might be upsetting for younger viewers. Notably, at the beginning of the film, a boat catches on fire and Prince Eric falls into the water unconscious. As he's drowning, Ariel swoops in to save him. The scene features moments of flashing lights - which appear later in the film - and the fire ends up killing various sea creatures.

As the story progresses, we also see Ariel tear out one of her scales from her tail to help Ursula make the potion that will give her human legs. The wound bleeds briefly later in the film. Once Ariel is in the human world, Ursula also stalks the teenager without her realizing it. Later, Ursula transforms herself into a human temporarily to spy on Ariel up close. The actor who plays her alter ego, Jess Alexander, puts on an impressive performance, letting out frightening laughs and delivering an impassioned display of hatred toward Ariel that comes off as unsettling.

Eventually, Prince Eric is tugged underwater against his will by Ursula's eels, who also restrain Ariel. To save Ariel, King Triton sacrifices himself and dies at Ursula's hand (Ariel is quickly able to bring him back to life, though).

If you think any of these themes might upset your child, you may want to hold off on watching the film with them for a couple of years - or watch it in advance and make notes of when to fast-forward.

For the most part, the live-action "The Little Mermaid" movie is a fun watch for both parents and kids. Even if you and your little one don't watch it in theaters, you can still enjoy Bailey's live performance of "Part of Your World" with the whole family.

Beyoncé gave one fan an experience he'd never forget when she threw him the sunglasses off her face during her "Renaissance" World Tour concert in London. In a now-viral TikTok video, fans captured the exact moment she removed her Off-White sunglasses, which she paired with a red-sequined Off-White bodysuit and thigh-high boots, and threw them into the crowd - but only after pausing to check the brand, of course. The recipient? A TikTok user who goes by the name Global Valentino, aka Valentino Rodrigues.

"I'm 1 of 1," Valentino captioned the video. "Me and @khal caught the glasses!! best experience ever, this meant so much!" The joy of catching one of the Grammy-winner's personal accessories, however, was short-lived as security promptly came over and snatched the sunglasses back. As his friends tried to keep the glasses safe, the guards mouthed, "Stop! Stop!" and ultimately ended up walking away with the sunglasses.

Later in the evening, Beyoncé returned wearing a custom Loewe bodysuit in gold and smiled as she returned the sunglasses to Rodrigues. "No, seriously, I'm still in shock 'cause what the hell?" he told his TikTok followers in a video after the show. After sharing a glimpse of the sunglasses up close, Valentino explained that a piece had fallen off the side immediately after the show. Once they were fixed, he happily tried them on. "OK, so I'm never wearing these again, guys, but they fit," he said in a follow-up video. Since the concert, Rodrigues has also updated his TikTok bio to read, "BEYONCÉ GAVE ME HER SHADES."

In an interview with The Daily Dot, he added that the show was the "best night of my life." The experience was made all the more special by the fact that the glasses were inscribed with the numbers 4-2.3 - likely an optometric measurement - because his birthday happens to be April 23, a noteworthy coincidence.

Though security tried to confiscate the glasses, Rodrigues didn't let the moment spoil his experience, and he's glad he was able to hang onto a memento from the unforgettable show. "I don't know about you guys but I can't see the haters," he said with a laugh as he put on the glasses.

If you love the edgy, raw, and unfiltered "Euphoria," buckle up for another thrilling ride with HBO's newest series "The Idol." The masterminds behind the series are none other than "Euphoria" director, writer, and producer Sam Levinson, as well as Abel Tesfaye, better known by his stage name, The Weeknd. In addition to creating and coproducing the series, the "Out of Time" singer will also share the screen with a handful of talented actors, including Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan, and Debby Ryan.

"The Idol" focuses on several heavy themes, ranging from drug use and excessive partying to Hollywood cults, which has many wondering if the realistic and intense storyline draws any influence from reality. While the series is not based on a singular true story, it's hard to imagine this show wasn't inspired by the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry.

What Is "The Idol" About?

The upcoming series centers around a rising pop star named Jocelyn (Depp) who gets swept into the charm and deception of a self-help guru and cult leader (The Weeknd) as she works to break into the music industry. Along the way, Jocelyn forms a relationship with the enigmatic, eccentric guru, which leads her to a debauchery-filled life, but at a cost. While information about "The Idol" is limited, the trailer highlights several sequences that involve heavy drug use, partying, reckless driving, guns, and sex, making for an intense, exhilarating watch similar to that of "Euphoria."

Is "The Idol" Based on a True Story?

While it appears to be drawn from realistic elements, "The Idol" is not based on a true story. Regarding the show's storyline, executive producer Francesca Orsi said in a statement (via Entertainment Weekly), "When the multi-talented Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson brought us 'The Idol,' it was clear their subversive, revelatory take on the cult of the music industry was unlike anything HBO had ever done before."

The US music industry, and the entertainment industry at large, is notoriously plagued by cult-like activity, sexual harassment, and emotional abuse at the hands of those in high-power positions like producers and executives, according to a report by The BBC.

In 2014, singer Kesha sued her producer Dr. Luke for sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, and emotional abuse while signed to his label, Kemosabe Records. (The abuse claims filed in New York were ultimately dismissed because the specific incidents of alleged abuse fell outside of the state's statute of limitations.) In June 2022, famed singer-songwriter R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted on racketeering and sex-trafficking charges for using his fame and influence to sexually abuse girls, boys, and women over the span of 25 years. Docuseries like "The Vow," which explores the NXIVM cult, and Leah Rimini's "Scientology and the Aftermath" also document how these groups target Hollywood stars to recruit into their organizations.

So while "The Idol" isn't based on one artist's experience in the music industry, it does appear to be inspired by the dark stories of some of the leaders who control it.

TikTok is home to some of the best beauty hacks out there, and a few of them have completely changed my routine for the better. I learned how to detox my hair for ultimate softness, tried "hair slugging" for long-lasting shine, and practically mastered the art of faking fuller-looking hair. Now that I'm newly single and back out in the dating world, I've been searching for simple tutorials that will help me elevate my basic looks, and I recently stumbled upon one that I immediately fell in love with.

TikTok user Betsy Moulthrop shared a tutorial for the perfect "red carpet" ponytail, which was first made popular by Kim Kardashian's hairstylist, Chris Appleton. In just a few short minutes, she pulled off a hairstyle that looked straight out of a magazine.

When scrolling through the video's comments section, I noticed quite a few people mentioned wanting to see the hack on fine hair, since Moulthrop has fairly thick, long hair, so I decided to designate myself as the official guinea pig. I started out by finding the original video featuring Appleton, and then I set to work.

How to Do the Red Carpet Ponytail Hack

To test the hack, all I needed was two elastic hair ties, so I grabbed them and stationed myself in front of a mirror. I started by splitting my hair into two sections as if I were doing a half-up-half-down style. From there, I used my hands to pull the top half of my hair back like I normally would, and tied it into a loose ponytail. When Appleton was doing this portion of the tutorial, he said, "It doesn't have to be perfect, it's not about creating a perfectly even base, it can be a little bit natural," so I kept that in mind when attempting to pull everything together.

Once my top ponytail was in place, I clipped it away from the bottom half of my hair using a duck clip. Then, I used my hands to comb the bottom section of my hair into another ponytail. Appleton's video then called for me to unclip the top ponytail and "twist it inside out," which essentially meant creating a tiny hole at the top of the pony and flipping the remaining hair through the hole. This is where things got a little "hairy" (pun intended), and I had to watch the video a couple of times before I got it right.

Next, I took the bottom ponytail and flipped it through the hole in the top ponytail as well. Then, to finish everything off, I tightened both ponytails.

Everything looked good from the front, but it was when I saw the sides and the back of my hair that I was truly impressed. My ponytail looked chic but effortless at the same time, and it gave my hair tons of volume.

Overall, this hair hack only took a few minutes to complete, but it elevated my look and was well worth the time spent trying to master it. At a May 24 screening, the movie's director, Chris Robinson, said (via People), "They got the rough cut on the computer and [McGee] said that all of the real Fab Five, LeBron, Anthony Davis and a couple other guys from the Lakers were all huddled around a little computer, watched the whole movie because LeBron couldn't cast it to his TV." Robinson continued, "He said that LeBron loved it. They loved it. So when the real guys loved it, that was good enough for me."

Years after wrapping up his role as Nick Miller on "New Girl," Jake Johnson is still making us laugh with his latest role as Peter B. Parker in the animated Spider-Verse franchise. In the first film, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," Peter is introduced as a divorced man who never saw himself having kids. However, in the second film, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," we learn that his character has rekindled his romance with his wife, Mary Jane, and become a father to a baby girl named Mayday.

While speaking about Peter's growth in a May 30 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Johnson said he's got "a lot of respect" for Peter because "he's trying to raise little Mayday while saving the world."

Walmart has answered the call for more affordable athleisure, and TikTok users are singing the praises of one specific pair of gym shorts they've appropriately dubbed "butter shorts," thanks to their super soft material. If the $7 price tag wasn't enough to warrant their virality, the wide array of bright colors might convince you to snag a pair of your own, with vibrant shades of pink, peach, and teal, in addition to classic black and neutral camo patterns.

"I just feel like I'm gonna be living in these," said one user, noting that she originally purchased the shorts as postpartum loungewear and quickly fell in love. "The hype is real," another creator confirmed, trying on a pair for the first time. "They feel even better on. They're stretchy, which I really like, [and] they're true to size," she added, pointing out the pockets and drawstring waistband. The same brand also carries running shorts in a similar lightweight fabric, but with mesh side panels and no drawstring, for working out.

Per Walmart's website, the "butter shorts" - officially called the Athletic Works Performance Gym Shorts - are moisture-wicking to keep you cool and made from a comfortable jersey material. Considering that similar styles of shorts can range anywhere from $40 to upwards of $70, this Walmart find is a cute alternative that won't break the bank. After watching the first two seasons of HBO's "Euphoria," you may be wondering if you missed the part where the realistic show's setting is established. Don't worry, you probably didn't. Though the raunchy teen series has been said to take place in the fictional town of East Highland, it's always been a mystery as to where exactly it's set.

"Euphoria"'s location may have been kept a secret all this time, per a decision made by showrunner Sam Levinson, to likely make the point that the issues faced by the high schoolers aren't unique to one particular geographic area. Drug addiction, abuse, trauma, and cyberbullying are present in rural areas, cities, and everywhere in between.

That said, "Euphoria" was actually filmed in Southern California, and the palm trees and mountains spotted in outdoor scenes and aerial views are consistent with a suburb in the area. The show's cast have been active on social media and their now-expired Instagram Stories have provided some fun "behind-the-scenes" info, too, including filming locations.

Per PopBuzz, screenshots were snapped from Sydney Sweeney's (who plays Cassie) account. Back in January 2022, Sweeney posted an Instagram Story that showed the cast arriving at Ulysses S. Grant High School, which is located in Valley Glen, CA, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley of LA. (The school is a popular filming location for both films and television shows, including "Saved By the Bell").

The mall shown in "Euphoria"'s first season looks fairly generic at first glance, but PopBuzz also noted that the scenes appear to have been shot at Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, CA, and Jacob Elordi (who plays Nate) took photos with fans at the luxury shopping center.

It's mentioned in "Euphoria"'s season one premiere that Jules "moved from the city to the suburbs," so it seems safe to assume that the show takes place in a suburb outside LA. But there's another HBO series that was filmed in a similar area and is even set in the same dark universe as "Euphoria," too: Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye's "The Idol" - which tells the story of a mega pop star named Jocelyn (played by Lily-Rose Depp) who falls for a cult leader, Tedros (The Weeknd).

That's right, in addition to both shows being controversial in nature and having star-studded casts and the same showrunner, "Euphoria" and "The Idol" - which premieres on June 4 - also share the same geographical region since the latter is set in Los Angeles and was filmed in Tesfaye's Bel Air home. According to Wonderland Magazine, Levinson confirmed this fact during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where the first two episodes of "The Idol" debuted out of competition. More than that, the new HBO series also features a tiny cameo from a "Euphoria" character: Alexa Demie's Maddy Perez. This sounds on-brand since "The Idol"'s setting seems like a place Maddy would hang out at.

At this time, it's unclear if any other "Euphoria" characters or connections will pop up in "The Idol." However, Da'Vine Joy Randolph - who plays Depp's character's manager in "The Idol" - told POPSUGAR that she'd love to see "Euphoria" star Colman Domingo (who plays Ali) appear in the show, if it gets renewed for a second season. "I personally really love Colman Domingo as a human being and as an actor," she said. "There were talks of potential crossovers of characters from 'Euphoria,' those two completely different worlds. If there was a way in which Colman's character could come over, I'm just thinking off the top of my head, how funny if we had an intervention and sat [Jocelyn] down and had a chat with her."

With Levinson at the helm of both shows and each at least in the same state, it sounds like anything's possible.

Beanie Feldstein is married! On Thursday, Vogue confirmed the actor had tied the knot with her longtime partner, Bonnie-Chance Roberts, on May 19 at Cedar Lakes Estate in Upstate New York.

"It is our happy place together," Feldstein told the publication. "I grew up going to summer camp for ten years, and my parents and both sets of my grandparents met at summer camp, so camp is a lineage of love through the generations of my family. Even though we met in London and fell in love on a film set, to get married at a camp was a truly beautiful emotional homecoming."

Of their wedding weekend, Feldstein said, "On Friday night, we wanted to take our guests on a true camp experience with bandana tablecloths and s'mores for dessert, with pennant banners and friendship bracelets: a true 'We're at summer camp' feeling." She added: "Then, we really wanted to surprise guests when they entered the barn for the reception. We wanted it to feel unexpectedly elevated and romantic and like nothing they had seen."

The ceremony took place on Saturday outside by a lake. "It had been our vision for two years, and we just were not willing to let it go," Feldstein said, referring to the fact that the weather had been bad all week. "It rained pretty hard leading up to the ceremony, but as we were about to walk down the aisle, the sun came out briefly."

Feldstein and Roberts both wrote their own vows for their ceremony, and they recited them to each other in front of their friends and family. "Reading them for the first time to each other surrounded by everyone we love was the most profound moment of our lives," Feldstein said. "It made it feel like truly there was nothing else in the world except for all of us there beneath the trees. It was genuinely the most magical, awe-inspiring moment of our lives."

Roberts added: "To see our two worlds, American and British, sitting together under the damp trees, getting to listen to our friends and family read their personal blessings for us, a take on the Jewish tradition of the Seven Blessings, and then to hear Charles articulate our relationship in the same exact way we do, while the fog rolled in. It is no surprise that both of our vows referenced magic, because for that time, magic was present."

Feldstein and Roberts's romance dates back to 2018 when the pair first met on the set of "How to Build a Girl" in the UK. Roberts was a producer on the movie, which Feldstein stars in. Prior to meeting Roberts, Feldstein confessed to Teen Vogue, she wasn't the relationship type. "It just wasn't something I thought about or craved," she admitted at the time. Then along came Roberts, and she said to herself, "Whoa! Now I get it . . . I get why people write songs."

She explained to Teen Vogue, "Not to sound flippant, but I was in love with her and all of her, and she's a woman. That's not scaring me or deterring me. And it wasn't just women in general; it was her specifically."

In June 2022, Feldstein and Roberts got engaged. The "Booksmart" actor announced the news on Instagram, sharing photos from Roberts's proposal with the caption, "i do, bon." Roberts proposed to Feldstein with a unique engagement ring that features a flower, with one large, central diamond surrounded by 14 smaller teardrop stones that resemble petals, all set on yellow gold.

"Bonnie told me that she wanted to create the most special ring possible. Something that was kind of vintage inspired in aesthetic and really one of a kind, like a rare flower in bloom," Feldstein explained during a June 27 appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers." London-based jeweler Michelle Oh custom-designed Feldstein's ring.

After a whirlwind breakout year, GloRilla is finally settling into her fame. The Memphis native, 23, burst onto the music scene seemingly overnight in April 2022 after the astronomical success of her now-certified gold hit "F.N.F. (Let's Go)." She then launched to superstardom after her September 2022 collaboration with Cardi B, "Tomorrow 2," became one of the biggest hits of the year. But even amid the hustle and bustle of her 180-lifestyle, the rap star tells POPSUGAR, "I now got to a point where I can just handle it."

"It's not overwhelming no more," GloRilla adds of navigating her star status. "It used to get like that at certain points, but I think for the most part, I know how to handle it."

Many young artists wouldn't be able to juggle a rapidly budding career along with major opportunities like performing at the American Music Awards and hitting the Grammys stage with a slew of hip-hop icons. However, GloRilla is handling her first year out with ease. In fact, she just checked another "surreal" accomplishment off her list: teaming up with Sprite to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop.

To honor the genre's groundbreaking anniversary on Aug. 11, GloRilla has been tapped to star in a tribute campaign alongside legends like Nas and Rakim, as well as fellow superstar Latto - part of which includes a spot in a remix of The Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight," the first-ever hip-hop song to hit the Billboard Top 40. GloRilla calls the campaign a "pinch-me moment" as she says, "I'm a big fan of Sprite, so I was excited to be a part of the summer campaign. I drink Sprite a lot, so I'm glad to help continue that legacy."

GloRilla's in the midst of creating her own legacy, one she still finds hard to believe has stretched across the pond. The rapper admittedly says, "I hadn't really traveled nowhere" beyond Memphis when she first blew up. Though she was locally known among hometown fans, she reveals, "The biggest change [in my life] is really traveling the world. I felt like I was going to be in Memphis for the rest of my life."

Nowadays, GloRilla says when she visits home, "I be like, 'Dang, I don't be here no more, and I be everywhere else.'" Residing in Atlanta and traveling back and forth to places like Miami and Los Angeles helped the rapper's name stretch across the map. Getting spotted in the airport took a minute to get used to because GloRilla would find herself asking folks, "Wow, you know who I am?" But the rap artist knew she really hit it big when she got recognized by a fan overseas.

"This was only two, three months after I blew up when I was in London," she shares. "I was in the mall, and the girl had recognized me. I just knew nobody in London was going to know who I was. That's one of the littest parts, for sure."

If someone would've told GloRilla she'd hit the pinnacle of success this time last year, she says she "wouldn't believe them," adding, "I'd think they lying and trying to play tricks on me." However, snagging a feature from one of the biggest women rappers today has given her more confidence to aim higher. GloRilla's next dream collaborations? Beyoncé, Chief Keef, and a "couple more" she's keeping close to the chest.

"It's a long list," she adds when asked about what else she's eyeing for the future. "I don't want to say. I don't want to jinx it."

One thing GloRilla is certain about, though, is the release of her first studio album - which she hopes will drop before the year is out. And unlike her 2022 debut EP, "Anyways, Life's Great…," she wants it to have "different vibes" than the rough-toned tracks she's known for.

"I'm still working on it, getting everything together," she says of her yet-to-be-named album. "I done crossed over different genres of music. Everybody know me for how I be hard on n*ggas and stuff, but I'm trying to give different vibes. Stuff that ain't so harsh." She's happy to share that she has "some happy vibes" on her upcoming project.

But more than that, GloRilla wants her album to prove she's here for the long haul. "That I'm solidifying my spot," she declares with no hesitation. "That I'm still not going nowhere. That this one for everything."

If there's one thing you take away about skin care, let it be to always wear sunscreen. That doesn't just mean on clear, sunny days, but on overcast days, in airplanes, on long car rides, and at home, too. According to Dr. Jinna, the skin-care industry has put a lot of effort into changing that, formulating face sunscreen that's "efficient with high SPFs while making more elegant formulations than traditional body sunscreens." That means more lightweight textures that easily blend into skin, can be layered under makeup, or are tinted for a more elegant application for dark skin tones. The most important thing is to find a sunscreen you'll want to use every day.

First, Dr. Jinna recommends using an SPF of 30 higher with broad-spectrum protection "so it covers different types of UV radiation that can cause skin cancers and premature aging," she says. Another thing to note is to apply the proper amount: "Typically, it's recommended about a nickel-size dollop of sunscreen should cover the face, remembering the upper eyelids and neck as well."

Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye is making his first foray into television with HBO's "The Idol." While the series has yet to premiere, it's already received a lot of criticism following director Amy Seimetz's exit and a Rolling Stone article that detailed allegations of a hostile workplace environment, which A24, HBO, and the show's cast and crew have denied.

In the wake of Seimetz's departure, "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson stepped in to replace her and the series underwent significant reshoots. In an effort to keep costs low during those reshoots, Tesfaye lent his personal home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, to the show after a conversation with Levinson. "Quitting the show wasn't an option for Abel or me. It was a dream that we had together, and we had to see it through," Levinson told W magazine in May. "If we were going to reshoot from the beginning, I knew it had to be for less money. Sitting in Abel's house, looking around at the 40,000 square feet, I said, 'It's stunning here - you can't buy production design like this. What if we shoot it here?' Abel put down his drink and said, 'Do you have insurance?' I said yes. And he said, 'I'm okay with it.'"

Shortly after, Levinson and his family, along with the rest of the cast and crew, pretty much moved into Tesfaye's house. "The bedrooms were now greenrooms; the bathrooms were for hair and makeup," Tesfaye told the publication. "We built a music studio in the basement so Mike Dean, who helped compose, and I could score the show while we were filming." As a result, Tesfaye took his dog and they moved into another one of his homes. "My home belonged to the show; it was a hub of activity. We were trying to blur the line between fiction and reality. We had cameras going all the time," Tesfaye explained to W magazine. "It was weird when they all left. I changed all the furniture. I replastered the walls. But the soul of Jocelyn's [Lily-Rose Depp] house is still in there."

Speaking to POPSUGAR, Da'Vine Joy Randolph - who plays Jocelyn's manager, Destiny - says she was in disbelief when she first found out she'd be filming inside Tesfaye's actual home. "I've never done that in my life, filming at someone's house," she says. "It was amazing. And we didn't even have trailers, so we literally were hanging out. It was like we were just hanging out at our friend's house, which is so amazing and gracious of him. But I think it's also an example of just how much he wanted this to be successful."

Jane Adams - who plays Nikki, a cutthroat record-label executive who's worked with Jocelyn for years - tells POPSUGAR she previously did the same thing for a film she shot years ago. "You so want to create this thing that you're willing to let people into your home, I get it," she says. "I actually had a lot of respect and admiration for him that he did that. And it was also just fun. It was a gorgeous setting and this story requires that."

The best self-tanners give your skin the kind of golden, sun-kissed glow that usually only comes after days of laying in the sun (but without all the dangers). It doesn't mean, however, that the layer of color is keeping you from getting a real tan underneath - in fact, while the pigment sits on the surface of skin, it doesn't protect against UVA/UVB rays or create any form of barrier against burns.

Translation: you'll still need to wear (and frequently reapply) a good broad-spectrum sunscreen. Though the tan might look real, that darker color forms from a reaction between the active ingredient in the most self-tanners called dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and the amino acids in your skin. This is different from exposing your skin to UV rays from the sun, which then causes melanin to spread to the surface in order to protect it from damage, thus creating the darker pigment in your skin. That means that if you get a spray tan or use self-tanner before vacation, you can still tan (and burn) underneath it.

That's why you should apply sunscreen liberally - especially since the deeper color could also disguise your sunburn, meaning you may not notice the red until it's too late. Don't let that faux glow fool you into thinking you need a lower SPF, either: again, your skin isn't really tanned. Always use SPF 30 or above when you're out in the sun, which is the lowest number recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology.

Best Sunscreens to Apply on Top of Self-Tanner

We know, we know: some sunscreens can make your faux tan look blotchy, which might make you want to skip the step altogether - but you don't have to. If you're worried about what all those sun creams will do to your fake tan, opt for oil-free formulas that won't break down the color so quickly. While there aren't many self-tanning products out there that contain an SPF, there are options that give you a temporary tint like the Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40 Sunscreen ($38), although those work best if you aren't planning on laying out in the sun all day. Still, this can work in a pinch if you don't want to compromise on your tan or sun protection.

You can also choose a gradual tanner with a built-in SPF like Jergens Natural Glow + Protect Daily Moisturizer Sunscreen SPF 20 ($10). This will enhance the glow you've got - but allow you to build up your own tan, too, so you'll have less risk of overdoing it. Just note that since it doesn't hit that recommended SPF 20, you'll want to seek shade and reapply your regular (oil-free) sunscreen more often to avoid burning.
