Whelp, the left caliper pistons started leaking pretty bad. I've identified the unit as a Cleveland 30-65 ($2,500), but it might just need new piston o-rings. Anyone deal with this before? Can't seem to find the seal kit. The Cleveland O-Ring kit model list is strangely missing this model. Am i stuck ordering the full assembly?

Piper shimmy dampers cost over $1000 dollars. They were not repairable and the only fix was purchasing a new unit.

The STC for repairing one cost $175 dollars. It works fairly well and seemed to fix the problem.

The work needs to be done by an A&P and a 337 is required to be filed with the FAA which means an IA needs to sign off on the whole thing.

Is it dampener or damper? Who knows?

I'm considering rebuilding my shimmy damper. The pics below show it looks to be a Cleveland 15-8 but there is also a Piper Aircraft placard with PS-50152-5. Aircraft Spruce has a kit that repairs a Cleveland 15-8 and references a PS-50152-2. Does anyone know what the difference is between a -5 and a -2?

My father-in-law and I own a nice 1977 Piper Turbo III located in Northern Virginia. We bought it in 2013 and it has been just the two of us flying it roughly 150hrs a year.
