A lot of people like idle games for this reason, numbers going up and up. I like it in other games, too. For instance, in Monster Train 2, a lot of the units have stats that can scale during battle. Sometimes they'll be persistent from one battle to the next. I find these incredibly fun. For instance, i just played the mushroom guys, and my champion started the game at 15 attack...
