Renowned local eatery Porta Via will return to Beverly Hills this summer at a new, larger location on North Cañon Drive, nearly six months after a Christmas Day fire shuttered its original home.

“We’ve made so many memories at Porta Via Beverly Hills, and we’re incredibly grateful to have become a lasting part of the community,” said owner Peter Garland. “This summer, we begin a new chapter in a new home and look forward to making new memories there with the support of our longtime guests.”

The restaurant is set to occupy a 5,300-square-foot space at 184 N. Cañon Drive, the former site of Nusr-Et, situated just three blocks south of its longtime predecessor. Owner Peter Garland announced the move as growth for the brand, with the new bistro-style setting offering seating for 165 guests and a redesigned outdoor patio.

Established in 1994 as a modest café, Porta Via evolved over three decades into a cornerstone of the Beverly Hills dining scene. Garland noted that the decision to relocate was driven by the shifting economic energy of the southern end of the Cañon Drive corridor.

“With the park and newly opened cul-de-sac nearby, Spago next door, the Maybourne Hotel across the street, and restaurants like Dante, Novikov, and Mastro’s all within close reach, the center of gravity has shifted in this direction,” he said.

The brand’s return to Beverly Hills comes as Garland manages a broader recovery effort; the Pacific Palisades branch, which was damaged in the January 2025 fires, is scheduled to reopen this August. Meanwhile, the Porta Via locations in Calabasas, at 4799 Commons Way, Unit J, Calabasas, CA 91302; (818) 746-2400, and Palm Desert, at 73100 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260; (760) 610-6770, remain in full operation. Garland has made retaining their long-term staff another priority, and staff members have been placed at their currently open locations.

“It’s been incredibly important to keep our team together,” he said. “They’ve helped make us what we are.”

Known for a menu that emphasizes organic, seasonal ingredients, the new Beverly Hills restaurant will continue to serve Italian-inspired California cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The relocation aims to modernize the restaurant’s aesthetic while preserving the “neighborhood staple” atmosphere that defined its original 31-year run.

“As we transition to our new home, we’re excited to continue serving our community with the same passion and dedication,” Garland added. “Thank you for being part of our journey—here’s to many more years of great food, warm hospitality, and shared memories.”
