Winthorpe

I had heard that the 2025 edition of Cockpit Fest might be the last one held at Newark Air Museum, and as to my shame, I had never been to one, this was to be the priority for this day out and about.

We arrived just as they opened up for the day and spent a few hours looking around Cockpit Fest and the rather excellent Newark Air Museum collection.

Delayed log from last years event at the former RAF Abingdon, now Dalton Barracks for the Army. Always a friendly and family feel to this show. As part of our Sunday out in Lincolnshire / Notts area, we visited the excellent museum at Winthorpe~Notts. I was hoping to catch up with any storage items, however only two volunteers were available today, so very busy. That’s one for another time…. Photographs at:  

The second day out was on Sunday 15 March, this time primarily to visit Waddington for the Polish and German fighters that had arrived for the Cobra Warrior 26-1 exercise. Eventually getting around to inputting the last two trips, the first was on Friday, primarily to visit Cheltenham for the helicopter Charity walk. At the same time we took the opportunity to see some military at Fairford and a few new items at Cotswold~Glos (Kemble) before making our way back home via Gloucester Staverton, Birmingham and East Midlands.
