Prichard Colón, the Puerto Rican boxing prospect whose promising career was cut short by a catastrophic brain injury suffered during a 2015 bout, has died at the age of 33.

Colón’s father, Richard Colón, confirmed his son’s death Thursday. He expressed his grief while thanking the people who had supported the family throughout Colón’s years of medical struggles.
