As part of a collaborative research programme, MARIN has carried out model tests to compare the performance of the ABB Dynafin™ propulsion concept with a conventional propulsion configuration on a ro‑ro vessel. The trials were conducted in cooperation with ABB and shipowner LD Armateurs (LDA).

Deltares and MARIN kicked-off a new Joint Industry Project (JIP) aimed at improving the prediction and management of thruster‑induced scour during offshore operations.

This paper presents results from a collaborative research effort within OC7 Phase I, focusing on viscous forces acting on the rectangular members of semisubmersible platforms. High‑fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations are used to examine how these forces are represented in engineering‑level hydrodynamic models.
