Watford Academy forward Remiero Moulton is thrilled to have signed off from his loan spell at Worthing with a league title.

The 19-year-old joined the National League South side in January, tasting senior football for the first time.

Moulton played more than 1,500 minutes for the Rebels and scored four goals, including a vital 86th-minute winner against title rivals Dorking Wanderers in early April.

Worthing were crowned champions after their win over Ebbsfleet United on Saturday, reaching the National League for the first time in their history.

“It's overwhelming!” said the young forward to watfordfc.com.

“Coming off the back of a tough start when I arrived in January, to go through a dip in form and then to come out of the other side and play a massive part was great.

“To win it in my first time in senior football, it doesn’t get any better. I'm chuffed and haven’t stopped wearing the medal!

“I have never felt a moment like scoring the goal against Dorking. That moment will stick with me forever.”

It has been an important season for Moulton who returned to Watford last summer and signed a three-year professional contract with a one-year option.

He spent the first half of the campaign with the Under-21s, captaining the team on several occasions before his loan move.

“The game is a little bit faster and there are a lot of experienced players,” he said on the men's game. “You've got to be more switched on, because if you're not you can get punished.

“I also learnt about the dark arts of the game. For example, in the men's environment they do little things that will block your run and make it harder for you.

“Off the ball, players talk more and try to put you off your game. They pinch you and do all these little things!

“Then there is the physicality, of course. There are stronger and bigger players.”

In the less forgiving ecosystem of senior football, Moulton said it has been vital not to ponder on mistakes, while re-training his focus on the next match instead of pondering on negatives.

“You deal with setbacks better than you do at Under-21 level,” he said.

“If you lose a game in the Under-21s on the weekend, the lads come in and don't get it out of their head and it sticks with them. In the first team, on the day you might be disappointed, but come Monday morning you don't hold grudges.

“The attention to detail is also different because you're playing for points to win the league and it's a different feeling.”

Earning the trust of his new team has been vital to his progress on the South Coast.

“You need to win football matches and there isn't much room for error,” said the young forward. “The manager and players have to trust you.

“Trust goes further than ability at this level. If they trust you, it doesn't matter if you've got the best football ability or not, you will play.”

Moulton said it is crucial that he builds on what he has learnt at Worthing.

“I know what I can do, but reassurance in life in general is always a blessing, let alone on a football pitch from lads that have played at a top level,” he said.

“I can't thank the team, the manager and the fans enough. They welcomed me and treated me as one of their own.

“I want to thank the staff at Watford as well, because without that good work I did before January, I wouldn't have been in this position where I am today where I've won a league.

“Momentum in football is massive and when it's against you it's very hard to get it back. When it's with you it’s hard to keep, unless you apply yourself properly.

“I will use my experience from this season into the next and make sure I get where I want with my career.

“I think I've come on leaps and bounds and I hope that I take learnings from here.”
