The Reds are back in the Sky Bet League. One action this Saturday (3PM) as we prepare to make the short trip to the Accu Stadium to take on Huddersfield Town in a Yorkshire derby. Morale will no doubt be high in the camp as we come off the back of a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Peterborough United last time out.

There is a brief let-off from the extremely hectic fixture schedule after we face the Terriers, with no midweek outing coming for the Reds, giving Conor Hourihane’s men an extended amount of time out on the training pitch next week. It will no doubt be a tough test for the Reds on Saturday afternoon, with our opponents currently sitting in sixth place, and they will no doubt be hoping for a strong end to the season to maintain their playoff push.

Last Time Out:

It was an impressive victory last time out for the Reds, as we came from behind to pick up all three points at home against Peterborough United. Just before the twentieth-minute mark, the Posh opened the deadlock; Owen Goodman was forced into a fine save, with the rebound falling to Kyrell Lisbie in the area, who applied a low finish into the goal. We drew back level on 34 minutes via the skipper, Luca Connell. McGoldrick initially showed fantastic strength to carve the opening, and the ball made its way across to Connell on the right wing, who cut onto his left peg and curled past Alex Bass. Conor Hourihane's men came out of the traps after the restart and were ahead for the first time in the encounter on 52 minutes. O'Keeffe was the outlet on the right, crossing deep for Reyes Cleary. The winger took a touch to get the ball out of his feet and curled it into the far, top corner in front of the Ponty End.

It was a frustrating outing for the Terriers last time out as they travelled to the Eco-Power Stadium to take on Doncaster Rovers. It was certainly a lacklustre performance from Town, and a Luke Molyneux penalty ten minutes before the break proved to be the winner for Rovers.

Of the forty-nine points amassed so far in their league campaign, they are certainly identifiably stronger on their home turf compared to when on their travels, with thirty-two points coming at the Accu Stadium compared to seventeen when the away side.

It was the perfect start to the day, as Davis Keillor-Dunn was in the right place at the right time to tap home from close range after a Nathanael Ogbeta cross. Just before the break, our lead was doubled as Huddersfield cleared a corner, but only as far as Luca Connell on the edge of the Terriers’ box, and the Reds skipper took a touch before striking, with his effort taking a wicked deflection to extend our lead. In the dying embers, an Adam Phillips long-range effort was parried into the path of the onrushing Keillor-Dunn, who was on site to tap home to double his tally for the afternoon. In what proved to be the last act of the fixture, a lacklustre back pass was pounced upon by Joe Taylor, who rounded Murphy Cooper and tapped home into an empty net.
