The cross-border clinical collaboration between Mayapada Healthcare (PT Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Tbk.) (IDX: SRAJ) and Apollo Hospitals India continues to demonstrate significant progress and growing maturity.

The partnership remains focused on strengthening the implementation of international-standard healthcare services and advancing the development of Mayapada Apollo Batam International Hospital (MABIH) as Indonesia’s first private international hospital, located within the Batam Tourism and International Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This commitment was reaffirmed through an official visit by Apollo Hospitals India’s leadership delegation from the 7th to the 9th of January 2026 in Batam and Jakarta, with active support from both the Indonesian and Indian governments.

The collaboration between Mayapada Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals began in 2023 and was further strengthened with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi in early 2025. Since then, the partnership has been realised through a range of concrete initiatives, including Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes, proctorship for complex cases such as advanced total knee replacement procedures, and intensive training programmes for Mayapada Hospital doctors and nurses in India. These initiatives reflect a long-term commitment to knowledge transfer and continuous improvement in clinical quality.

As part of the ongoing strengthening of collaboration implementation, a series of strategic visits commenced on the 7th of January 2026 with a meeting with BP Batam to discuss readiness for the development of MABIH within the Batam Tourism and International Health SEZ, followed by an on-site review of the MABIH location. The Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, emphasised that the presence of MABIH is expected to strengthen Batam’s position as a healthcare investment destination, drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, enhance regional competitiveness, and reinforce Indonesia’s national healthcare self-reliance.

Mayapada Apollo Batam International Hospital (MABIH)

On the 8th of January 2026, two MoUs were signed at Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta between Mayapada Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals, covering the implementation of AI-based preventive healthcare services and the strengthening of nursing competencies in emergency and critical care services. Separately, an MoU was also signed between Mayapada Healthcare and the Embassy of India, designating Mayapada Hospital as the official referral hospital for the Embassy of India in Indonesia. The visit concluded on 9 January 2026 with discussions on collaboration in the utilisation of facilities, technology, and human resources in healthcare services, the signing of an MoU witnessed by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, and a meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Two MoUs were signed between Mayapada Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals India at Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta, formalising the implementation of ProHealth, an AI-based preventive healthcare service focused on risk prediction and the prevention of non-communicable diseases. The agreement also includes the strengthening of nursing expertise in emergency and critical care services through Medvarsity, Asia’s largest healthcare education institution under Apollo Hospitals.

Apollo Hospitals plays a strategic role in the development of MABIH and Tower 3 of Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta (MHJS). MABIH will focus on managing complex cases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and organ transplants, supported by advanced medical technologies, including AI, and collaboration between Indonesian and international physicians. Meanwhile, Tower 3 will further elevate MHJS as Indonesia’s largest private hospital, equipped with advanced technologies such as Digital PET scans, SPECT-CT, nuclear medicine services, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and integrated rehabilitation. It will also serve as a centre for knowledge transfer and the development of specialist and subspecialist competencies.

Cross-border collaboration was further reinforced through the signing of an agreement with the Embassy of India in Indonesia, appointing Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta and Kuningan as official referral hospitals (hospital panel) for the Embassy of India’s staff and their families. This designation further underscores Mayapada Hospital’s position within the international healthcare network. The Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, stated, “We have observed Mayapada Healthcare’s development over the past few years and its readiness to take on challenges through continuous expansion. This MoU will further deepen our collaborative relationship. From the Embassy’s perspective, we will support any initiatives that bring India and Indonesia closer together.”
