Burning Cottonwood for the first time. I have heard it gives off no heat and smells terrible. I found processing to be quit easy. I do burn White Pine which is not well regarded but it works great in my situation as it wams the house as it burns very hot. I also like the smell outside. What has been your experience with it?

It's been a while since I actually posted about my stove... So far, these past few years have been awesome and she has been cooking. I haven't had to rely on the stove as much since we got natural gas service and a really nice furnace - but the stove still gets plenty of use.

Somebody told me yesterday that burning firewood really doesn’t make any sense. You have to cut the wood, split the wood, stack the wood, bring it into the house, clean the stove, throw the ashes out, and you have to keep doing this over and over and over and over again.

I giggled aloud when they started driving wedges!
