I’ll be interested to see what people say. I’ve seen arguments on both sides but I can’t put my hands on good research.

My intuition is that the tree is better off if unwanted shoots are suppressed. So, once I’m confident that a dominant shoot is well established, I remove side shoots and especially any wannabe central leader(s). My growing season is short, so the goal...

mine are about that size. yes they will split if theres alot of rain when ripening. i lost a large branch last year due to too much fruit. this year they set less than half of last so i think im good.

Citrumelos are surprisingly hardy!

I grafted a Dunstan Citrumelo at my family’s house in New York (zone 7a/7b), and it has survived at least 3 Winters with no damage, down to 0°F. It is being grown in partial sun. Quality and flavor vary based on the amount of heat and rain but in the best year it was surprisingly good if you’re okay with tart.
