Actually, I’ve read somewhere that are three different genes that make citrus acidless, and only on (the most common) blocks the the production of anthocyanins. I’ll see if I can find it.

I did hand pollinate very early on, but have not in years. Have you tried something like a leaf blower to distribute pollen? Just a matter of enough to get pollen moving without blowing the flower off completely. Or shaking branches lightly? Bees may well pollinate, though - they collect pollen even from plants without nectar, and feijoa have showy flowers and plenty of polle...

Exactly. And it’s an acidless variety, which means that it also isn’t capable of producing anthocyanins at all.

Picking ahead of the storm is always a gamble but cracking losses are brutal, good call. What’s getting through the netting? We had the same problem with blackbirds last year, somehow squeezing through gaps I couldn’t even see.
