Can you bury the stem of a leggy courgette seedling to the first leaves, like you can with tomatoes?

Or will that rot the stem?

Can anyone explain whats going on here and what i should do ?

Received an email to say my choice of seed potatoes were now in stock, so order placed. Anya, one I have not grown for a while, my wife requested red potatoes so Rooster and Java also ordered, just a kilo of each as we don't have a huge amount of space.
