What are some of the best looking games on PlayStation 5? It’s an age old question introduced with each new console generation.

The PlayStation 5 is constantly being pushed to the limit with the latest releases. Looking at the advancements we have made graphically in the last ten years alone is jaw-dropping. And while graphics aren’t everything, I can’t help but lavish in a beautiful digital world.

That’s why I was wracking my brain to decide on the best of the best. The games that really showcase the true power of the PlayStation 5. From next-gen upgrades to PS5 exclusives, here are the best looking games on PlayStation 5 right now.

Demon’s Souls

As one of the launch titles for the PlayStation 5, Demon’s Souls had to make an impression. I’m not a huge fan of the Souls series, but I had to check out what next-gen graphics really looked like. And they did not disappoint.

Demon’s Souls is one of the first game’s I spotted where you could take any screenshot and it would look like promotional material. There was no exaggeration between what we were shown and what we got, which sadly is often the case.

This is one of the screenshots I took while in the game, and I have regularly referred to this as a reasoning for buying a PlayStation 5. Everything looks aged, weighty and damp, and the opening area is as daunting as it should be. Just wait till you get to some of the later areas with flaming demons and giant knights.

RATCHET AND CLANK: RIFT APART

Having never played a Ratchet and Clank game, I wasn’t entirely sold on Rift Apart’s Pixar-esque art-style. But the power of FOMO is strong, and I ended up checking out this title on launch. And despite its cartoonish style, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is easily one of the best looking games on PlayStation 5.

Helped massively by the impressive loadtimes, switching between one large factory area to a decimated planet is too good to miss out on. It is one of the very few gasp-inducing moments I’ve had as a gamer.

With an awe-inspiring scale to its levels, Rift Apart also shows off with the finer details. Whether it is the reflections on Ratchet’s eye, or the lightning sparking as your blast off your Shatter Blast, you’ll be revelling in how good it all looks.

RETURNAL

Returnal is one of the least obvious picks of the bunch due to its overwhelmingly dark colour pallete. Its visuals on their own aren’t always something to fuss over. However, Returnal feels like a true next-gen experience, with impressive details, haunting vistas and insane flashes of colour. Its visual work hand-in-hand with the gameplay.

Darting around the grim planet of Atropos becomes increasingly awe-inspiring as the game ups its difficulty. The colourful blasts from enemies spice up the Prometheus vibes, and only escalate as you continue. And the game keeps things visually fresh with tight areas one moment, and massive areas the next. I cannot stress how cool I felt as I grappled from one falling platform to the next, as a giant beast fired thousands of bolts at me. While it might grab you immediately, Returnal’s visual stayed with me for the long haul.

Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut

Ghost of Tsushima was one of the best looking games on PS4. This samurai exclusive impressed back in 2020 with a colourful artstyle and fun sword-combat. But playing the game on PS5 is an absolute delight. With a boost of framerate and 4K visuals, Ghost of Tsushima easily stands toe-to-toe games of this generation.

With a minimal hud and the dynamic wind directions, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is an immersive marvel. And with the monkey-filled Iki Island arriving alongside the Director’s Cut, there is even more visual diversity. It is a shame that the upgrade is being locked behind a paywall, but for those looking to enhance their Tsushima experience. this is the way to go.

SPIDER-MAN MILES MORALES

Web-swinging never looked so good. Another PS5 launch title that has continued to impress over the last year, Miles Morales is a visual (ahem) marvel. The Spider-Man remaster nearly took this spot, but Morales edged it out with some Christmassy pizazz to add to its already gorgeous city.

Thwapping your way onto a high ledge and basking in the setting sun over a snowy New York is an honest delight. Whether it is the framerate boost, the ray-tracing, or the fluid animations from Miles himself, it is hard to get bored from the look of Miles Morales. For those lucky enough to get their mitts on an OLED TV, this offers one of the best dynamic range in any of those mentioned.

Walking through the haymarket in the early hours of the game will genuinely have you gawking at all of its gorgeous colours and detail. Just imagine how Spider-Man 2 is going to look!

Zombie games Dying Light 1 and 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch, and will use the power of cloud streaming to make it possible.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human looks like the kind of game that would set a PC on fire. With impressive graphics, fun melee combat and a massive evolving open world, the last place you’d expect to play it is on Nintendo Switch.

Nonetheless, Dying Light 2 and its predecessor are both coming to Nintendo Switch. The newer of the two will utilise cloud streaming to make it possible, while Dying Light will run natively.

ZOMBIE SLAYING ON THE GO

Techland has reported prepared a range of features that will come to the game exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Players will be able to utilise HD Rumble, gyro aiming, motion controls and touchscreen support.

Dying Light 2 players will need a stable internet connection to run Dying Light 2 when it arrives in February. The game was recently pushed back into 2022, to the surprise of no-one. To players unsure of whether they should check out the Nintendo version of the game, a free demo will launch alongside release.

For those wanting their hands on Dying Light now however, they will be able to slay zombies from the 19th of October. I’m a massive fan of the first Dying Light game, so it’s nice to see the experience making its way to more platforms. The “Platinum Edition” will include the base game, The Following DLC, and all other DLC.

However, for those with a choice between platforms, I’m not convinced that Nintendo Switch will be the way to go. We’ve seen games such as Apex Legends port to Switch with shockingly bad results. And considering Dying Light’s focus on streamlined movement, similar to Apex, here’s hoping it isn’t as bad. However, we’ve also seen games like Doom ported to Switch to relative success.

Players will be able to pick up Dying Light Platinum Edition on Switch on October 19th, 2021. Then its sequel Dying Light 2 Cloud Version will launch on February 4th, 2021.

PewDiePie isn’t returning to Minecraft after many hoped for his return, and the streamer is urging fans to “let things go”.

Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg has surfed the wave of popularity on Minecraft in recent years. After an extended period of avoiding the game, the streamer has toyed with the idea of returning in a couple of streams. This has caught the attention of many fans, who began requesting the YouTuber to return.

However, PewDiePie isn’t returning to Minecraft, as the Felix took a definitive stance on the matter. He claimed that he didn’t want to play the game forever, and that fans had to “let things go”.

NO MORE MINECRAFT FOR FELIX

In one of his recent meme-reviews, Felix came across a meme making light of his constant back and forth with Minecraft. Felix was joking about the matter as usual, but asked “am I just suppose to play every game forever?”

It’s a fair point to make, as YouTube’s most subscribed content creator has played a wide variety of games across his decade-long career on YouTube. Felix continued:

“Guys, you need to let things go. If you guys weren’t an entity or a person you’d have severe separation anxiety. I can’t make things last forever, I’m sorry.”

Felix then emphasised that he was trying to expand his horizons and try out new things. And with each of his videos surpassing one million views, I’d say that is working out pretty nicely for him. It’s plausible that we might get some return to Minecraft at some point, as Felix tends to play whatever he is interested in in the moment. However, fans shouldn’t expect a more dedicated return to Minecraft.

Pokimane has fought her way up to the Immortal rank on Valorant, but some viewers don’t believe she is that good.

The streaming star has been grinding Valorant as of late and recently hit the Immortal rank. Immortal players are among the top 0.4% of all of Valorant. Pokemane has been an avid fan of Valorant since its launch, and has previous reached Diamond rank in the past.

Some players however, aren’t willing to accept Pokemane’s rise. Many began accusing Pokemane of being carried to the rank. But Pokemane says those commenters are “brain dead”.

A RISE THROUGH THE RANKS

Imane “Pokimane” Anys has been stuck in Diamond rank for three acts in Valorant. However, through a lot of grinding she was finally able to push through to Immortal. And as you would, Imane celebrated the moment, claiming she was proud of herself.

However, Imane’s celebrations were upended by various accusations of the streamer being “carried”. But Pokimane was having none of it. Speaking on stream Imane stated:

“I’ve been playing Valorant since beta. I’ve hit Diamond rank numerous times, have three ranked accounts. You clearly don’t know this because you don’t watch my stream.“

Pokimane has previously spoken about the issues she has faced as a woman in games. In recent months it has become all too clear at the change needed within the medium, and esports in particular. Within the 680 top paid players in esports, just two are woman.

As one of Twitch’s top streamers, Pokimane in many ways has bucked that trend. However, she also addressed the potential of burnout in a YouTube video. In it she hinted that a change in her streams schedule could be coming, but has yet to make an announcement on the matter.

Valorant has seen a massive spike in Twitch viewers in recent weeks, no doubt aided by Pokimane. The game also received a new map recently, which featured a more divided design that previous inclusions. This partnered with Pokimane’s success make it an exciting time to follow the shooter.

Despite publicly swearing off the game last month, NICKMERCS is back on Warzone, but claims it doesn’t mean he’s coming back full time.

NICKMERC was one of the biggest streamers to ditch Warzone due to the plague of online hackers. The Twitch Rich List star grew tired of the lack of change that was being made by Activision to counter cheats. In his leaving video, titled “Moving On”, Nicholas Kolcheff claimed that Warzone was in a “really bad spot”.

It seems that time is a healer however, as NICKMERCS is back on Warzone his week. But the streamer promises that it doesn’t mean he’s back playing full time.

NICKMERCS RETURNS TO VERDANSK

NICKMERCS has swapped out Verdansk for King’s Canyon since his move. Apex Legends steadily became the home to many streamers that grew tired of Warzone’s issues. However, it seems that many are beginning to bleed back to Warzone. Just this week TimTheTatman announced that he was done with Apex Legends, and has been enjoying Warzone with Dr DisRespect.

Kolcheff isn’t actually done with Apex Legends, however, the game has suffered a ton of server issues in the past week or so. Since he couldn’t get onto Apex, Kolcheff decided to hop back on Warzone with some of his mates. And while he claimed he wouldn’t be back full time, NICKMERCS did ask his followers if they would like to see more Warzone content.

Fans were happy to see NICKMERCS jump back into Warzone. Joining the likes of TimTheTatman and FaZed Doozy, it didn’t take long for Nick get back into it. However, Nick wasn’t happy with the audio issues brought on by the disappointing Numbers Event.

I reckon we’ll be seeing more of NICKMERCS in Warzone. Especially as the game’s anti-cheat arrives later this year with Vanguard.

Titanfall fans have been through a whirlwind of emotions. Mere hours after denying any sequel plans, Respawn teased Titanfall 3 in a tweet made last night.

During a livestream on YouTube. Respawn Community Manager Jason Garza claimed the studio had no plans for a future Titanfall sequel. Garza was emphatic in his statement, stating that there was “nothing there”.

However, Respawn Entertainment has taken to Twitter to seemingly correct Garza’s statement. Explaining that Titanfall is integral to its DNA, Respawn teased Titanfall 3, by stating “who knows what the future holds…”

MAYBE TITANFALL 3, MAYBE NOT

It is hard to judge the statement from Respawn. The cynic in me feels like this may be nothing more than a course correction. Garza’s comment shocked many Titanfall fans, as his statements were quite dismissive of the beloved franchise. Garza pretty much claimed that the franchise was dead, by pleading with fans not to get their hopes up.

Titanfall has been living on to some extent through Apex Legends. Valkyrie, a legend added in Season 9, is the daughter of an antagonist from Titanfall 2. And another antagonist, Kuben Blisk, has been featured in Stories from the Outland videos, and is rumoured to be a future legend.

It’s hard to see where Respawn could possibly fit in work for a new Titanfall game. It is constantly working on Apex Legends; is rumoured to be developing a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel; and has started an unannounced single player game. It’s been five years since the launch of Titanfall 2. Even if work just began, we’d be looking at a third game arriving close to a decade on.

I’d love to believe Respawn, and as a massive Titanfall 2 fan, I’d take a new game in a heartbeat. Whether Respawn’s claims will take any form in the future is yet to be seen. But for now, there is some hope for the future of Titanfall.

We all know it – gaming is far more fun with friends. Sure, we all enjoy getting lost in a good single player experience. But when it comes to getting social, nothing’s better than gathering with some distant pals and playing some of the best multiplayer games around.

If there’s one thing that the last eighteen months has taught us, it’s that staying connected is vitally important. Video games can offer the perfect outlet for that. Whether it’s competitive or co-operative that you’re looking for, here’s a list of five games that are perfect for playing with friends in 2021.

Valorant

Let’s get the hyper competitive one out of the way. Valorant is Riot Games’ answer to Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. CS:GO has dominated the twitch shooter esports scene since it debuted in 2012, but Valorant has something to say about that.

Following a similar formula, two teams are tasked with attacking and defending a bomb site in various colourful locations. The big difference is that, instead of purchasing utlity items like flash and frag grenades, players can choose from an increasing roster of unique Agents.

These Agents play into unique playstyles. There’s something here for those who favour support, while other characters cater to those who suit running in with crackshot aim. That’s what makes Valorant so great to play with friends. You’ll end up finding a character that suits the way you play and can synergise with your teammates from there.

Competitive players will enjoy the high skill ceiling that Valorant offers. While simple enough to get to grips with, mastering each map, weapon, and game economy takes time. Valorant is something that you’ll need to commit hundreds of hours to if you want to get properly good. Those hundreds of hours will fly by much faster if you do so with a friend.

Divinity Original Sin 2

Taking things back a notch, let’s look at something a little slower paced. If you’re a fan of getting lost in fantasy worlds, then Divinity Original Sin 2 offers the perfect opportunity to do so with friends.

You can play this one as a solo adventure, but it’s far more entertaining with a squad of buddies. This top-down RPG is heavily based on the Dungeons and Dragons ruleset with regular skill checks and turn-based combat. As such, there’s up to four characters in a party to control, so having three buddies along for the ride splits up the workload evenly.

Using a creative variety of elemental spells, you’ll encounter all sorts of weird and wonderful characters along your journey. A fantastic combat system takes advantage of the gorgeous environment with details like elevation dictating the flow of fighting.

While a main questline powers the story forward, you’ll want to explore the many side quests Divinity has to offer. As such, make sure to start this game with pals you know have a reliable schedule. Otherwise you’ll be playing this one in the background for a good while. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing – it’s easily one of my favourite RPGs from the last few years.

Rainbow Six Siege

If there’s one other competitive game that’s dominated the esports scene recently, it’s Rainbow Six Siege. In a similar vein to Valorant, this is an excellent shooter to dig into with pals if you’re looking for a time sink.

Because of how insanely detailed the Siege maps are, it requires an intense amount of map knowledge. The same goes for the sheer number of Operators that are now in the game. Ubisoft has been hard at work adding new characters and abilities to the game since it launched in 2015. As such, the roster is now over 60 large, with Osa being the most recent addition.

It can be a daunting task to break into such a meaty shooter in 2021, which is why it’s best done with a pal. Even better if there’s a few of you, you can try out different operators and help each other figure out which ones are best for your group. 

Despite a relatively steep learning curve, Siege remains one of the most popular esports games on the scene. With such a dedicated audience, the game clearly means a lot to plenty of people. It could be the game that your friendship group needs, too.

Knockout City

I’m not going to stop shouting from the rooftops about this game because it remains a sleeper hit of this year. Knockout City is a dodgeball game released by EA earlier this year and sees teams of three trying to literally knock their opponents out of the game. A simple premise, sure. But mastering how to intelligently throw, pass, and catch the dodgeballs is all part of an incredibly fun experience. 

Part of what makes this game so fun is how the dynamic changes when playing with pals. Playing solo encourages you to get to grips with just throwing and catching the ball. However, when you introduce friends and communication into the mix, that’s where tactical passes completely change the game.

Before long, you’ll be dodging and weaving like a pro in frantic battles that have you constantly on the edge of your seat. If you’re looking to get stuck in, then you’re in luck. Until the end of September, Knockout City is free to download on PC via the Amazon Prime Gaming service. If you’ve got two other friends at a loose end, then you’ve little to lose by trying out this excellent arena game.

Hunt: Showdown

Last up, we have Hunt: Showdown. Another game that seems to fly under a lot of radars, it takes an innovative approach to gameplay with a PvPvE structure. It’s set in the Louisiana bayou in the late 1800s. Using old fashioned weaponry, it’s your job to hunt down and banish several monsters that inhabit the swamps.

The twist is that other players are also looking to accomplish the same task and escape with the loot. Once you banish a monster, your crew is marked on the map for all to see. You’ll need to fend off any incoming players and make it to the extraction point to escape with the treasure loot.

Hunt: Showdown promises high risk, high reward gameplay. Its incredibly tense to play, which is why it’s best played with a couple of friends. Either duos or trios are available, so there’s a choice of just how intense you’d like the experience to be.

Showdown is receiving regular updates, too. Most recently, developer Crytek added the brand new map Desalle, which brings an industrial tinge to the otherwise natural aesthetic. Available across console and PC, this is one for you to try if you’re looking for something a little different to the norm.

Players aren’t happy with Call of Duty Warzone’s Numbers Event, as its challenges are dull and repetitive compared to the multiplayer version.

Warzone players have enjoyed various events throughout the last year. The 80s Action Hero event had players scouring through Nakatomi Plaza with John McClane and John Rambo. And after its announcement during the Vanguard reveal, many looked forward to Warzone’s Numbers Event.

However, excitement faded and many weren’t happy with how lacking the new event was. With Numbers Stations scattered throughout Verdansk, the new event was repetitive and required very little effort. Warzone’s Numbers Event is really sitting in the shadow of Nakatomi Plaza.

A REPETITIVE EVENT

The Numbers Event does actually contain a fair collection of rewards. Across nine challenges in Warzone and another nine in Cold War’s multiplayer, a total of 18 rewards can be earned. Among those is the special Sai melee weapons.

The issues lay in the variety of challenges. Cold War’s challenges include things like earning 25k points in multiplayer or winning a Demolition match. They are are simple but varied. However, Warzone’s challenges are essentially the exact same on repeat. Players have to access the Numbers Stations across Verdansk and hold the interact button before moving onto the next.

SwazzyGamers stated on Reddit “this is not an event”. Swazzy allegedly completed the eight stations within Warzone, in one single match by driving around the map. While I think it would be easy to die before getting all eight stations, I can’t imagine it taking more than three or four games. To top off Warzone players’ frustration, many of the games best guns were nerfed last week.

Despite the lack of creativity in the latest event, it will be no skin off Activision’s nose. Recent reports revealed that Warzone brings in a staggering $3.7 million every single day. It would be nice to see Activision put in a little effort. Hopefully with the launch of Vanguard, and its new Warzone map will usher in more quality event content for players.

Twitch has finally made progress in its ongoing issues against copyright music strikes in new deal with National Music Publisher Association.

Most Twitch streamers will be all too familiar with DMCA strikes. It occurs whenever Twitch detects copyright music played within a stream. For gamers this can be a real issue for any games that may feature copyright music, such as Grand Theft Auto V.

However, the issue has become so ridiculous in recent months, that Twitch even DMCA’d itself. A livestreamed Metallica gig saw the famous band muted during a stream hosted by Twitch.

Twitch has finally made some progress in a new copyright deal. A deal with the National Music Publisher Association (NMPA) will “build productive partnerships between the service and music publishers”.

CHANGE IS COMING

A report from Variety explained that Streamers were sent the new terms as part of the deal. And while streamers still won’t be able to broadcast copyrighted music, it seems change is coming. NMPA President David Israelite stated that the deal “paved the way for future relationships” between Twitch and publishers.

The avoidance of copyright music has become so ingrained in streaming culture, that Cyberpunk 2077 included a streamer mode. This removed all copyright music from the game. Many reaction channels avoid playing too much audio from trailers in fear of getting copyright strikes.

This new deal will allow streamers to opt-in for a more forgiving and lenient reporting system. This means that if you accidentally include tracks from a game, you could be issued a warning. This would replace the immediate closure, or muting of your stream.

This move from the platform seems to be quite beneficial to the Twitch community for once. After many complaints and even a Twitch boycott protest, Twitch finally sued two hate raiders, amidst the ongoing issues.

It will be some time before we reach a more relaxed environment around copyright music. However, Twitch and the NMPA seem to be taking steps in the right direction.

So much of Destiny 2 is about accruing the best weapons and gear to take on a solar system of aliens. But on so many other levels, it is about creating a Guardians that is as legendary as some of the commanders you take orders from. And a lot of that comes down to the look of your Guardians.

To celebrate those players that fashion impressive armour collections, Destiny is launching a fashion magazine. Threads Of Light will be the game’s first digital fashion magazine. In fact, it may be the first fashion magazine for any game ever.

CHECK OUT THE FRESH DIGS

Fashion has steadily bled its way into the world of gaming. Just this week Fortnite announced a collaboration with Balenciaga. And I can’t stop thinking about how cool Colt’s jacket looks in Deathloop. However, Destiny takes fashion to a whole new level.

With hundreds of armour sets and combinations to be made, Destiny 2 players can really forge their own look. And considering Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters all feature different looks and unique armour, there is plenty to play around with.

Destiny players have been showing off their unique looks for years over on Reddit. The /r/DestinyFashion subreddit, doesn’t just share the look, but also how other Guardians can acquire it. With The Witch Queen expansion arriving in February, there will be plenty of new armour types to spice up your Guardian’s look.

Destiny teased the project on Twitter this week, but didn’t state when the magazine would drop. Bungie stated that the magazine would be “celebrating [the] community’s creativity and showcasing the best guardian fashion styles.”

The next Halo Infinite Technical Preview is launching this weekend, giving players to try out 343 Industries highly-anticipated return along with a new map that wasn’t featured in the last preview.

Halo Infinite news has been on the backburner for a while. Since the game announced that it would in fact launch this year, we haven’t heard much else.

However, for Halo Waypoint users, invites for the next Technical Preview have begun to roll out. The latest preview, which will run over two weekends, will give the wider public a good feel for this new-but-old Halo.

OUR MOST EXTENSIVE HANDS-ON YET

Unlike the previous test, anyone who registered interest on Halo Waypoint will receive invites. The last test only allowed randomly selected Waypoint users in. The preview will run from September 23rd to 26th and the following weekend on September 30th to October 3rd. This will be the most extensive look at Halo Infinite yet.

Across the two weekends the preview will contain a Social Arena, Bot Arena, Big Team Battle, Training Mode, Weapons Drill, Customisation and Battle Pass. Among all of that, it is expected we will get a look at the recently revealed “Behemoth” map. Located on Zeta Halo, this new map looks to be a nostalgia-blended mesh of open plains and tight corridors. And its all topped off with a sandy environment.

A livestream held last night (22nd), detailed the return of Big Team Battle, which meshes Capture the Flag with larger maps and teams. Players will be able to access loot caves to gain better weapons during a game of Big Team Battle. Gameplay released showed an awesome mix of weapons and vehicle use, and looks like a ton of fun. BTB will only be available across the second weekend of the preview.

343 Industry also announced a partnership with Kelloggs, meaning players can earn double XP by buying Pringles.

While Halo Infinite won’t launch with all of its components on launch, the multiplayer experience will likely excite many Halo fans. If you plan to check out the preview this weekend, you will be able to pre-load the game from today (23rd).

Level up in Halo Infinite with the help of Pringles this year with this tasty collaboration between Master Chief and Kelloggs.

After months of uncertainty, we finally know that Halo Infinite is on its way this year with its December 8th release date. Here’s hoping that it isn’t delayed between now and then!

With the release date less than three months away, it seems it isn’t just players that are getting excited. Kelloggs has announced a collaboration with Halo Infinite that will actually help you level up faster. And yes, I must repeat: this means you can level up in Halo Infinite with the help of Pringles.

Pringles Power Play

In the collaboration, Kelloggs announced that various foods such as Pringles, Cheez-It, and Pop-Tarts would provide double XP. Select food packages can be found in stores throughout the rest of the year, and will remain valid until January 31st, 2022.

Halo Infinite is taking a highly customisable approach to armour, where players can swap out helmets, shoulder mounts and more. Kelloggs will help you breeze through the ranks to help you find a Spartan look that’s right for you. Kellogg’s Senior Director Zion Doran seemed ecstatic about the collab:

“With the return of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises, we wanted to make sure fans were well-supplied for all their late-night battles“.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t make it through a late-night battle without at least one tube of Pringles by my side. For those healthier gamers, however, you can wrack up your double XP codes with some Bear Naked Granola.

Players signed up for Halo Waypoint, will be gaining access to the next stage of flight tests this weekend. Unlike the last test, those taking part will be able to face off against other real players. This will beat the t-bagging bots of the last flight.

You can begin stacking up on Pringles and Pop-Tarts now, so that you have plenty double XP tokens to use come Halo Infinite’s launch.

Twitch is filled with lovely niches. But one twitch streamer ran 10k in Lord Of The Rings cosplay for charity, and it might be the best thing we’ve ever seen.

Orc Run is a Twitch streamer that loves to go on long runs dressed in Uruk Hai armour from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of The Rings trilogy. And before you start thinking that sounds like the worst thing imaginable – because it is – they are doing it for a lovely cause.

With an arm-mounted camera Orc Run ran the Calgary Marathon this week for charity. They ran a full 10k without even removing their helmet, raising $1866 in the process. I’m sweating just thinking about it, let alone doing it.

10K DRESSED AS AN URUK HAI

Starting just a couple of months ago, Orc Run launched their Twitch channel with a simple missions. In their first stream, they titled it “Orc Run is my name, raising money for charity is the game”. Orc Run has also dabbled in some game streaming, by paling through South Park The Stick Of Truth. Maybe they would like to check out Gollum when it releases.

However, for the most part their streams are of charity runs. We get to see a heart-beat monitor and a handy distance tracker as they continue their runs. Orc Run had only done a couple of 10k runs on the channel before. However, they still manage to complete the marathon in 54 minutes. Getting 10k in that amount of time is hard enough, but Orc Run managed to do it with armour, a face mask, and the heavy looking camera set-up. As they finished they claimed that it felt like their”arm was falling off like 3k in”.

The absolute mad one that Orc Run is, they somehow managed to jog home after the marathon. I suppose an Uruk Hai never stops. You can check out Orc Run’s streams over on his Twitch channel.

Have you been playing Deathloop but don’t know where to start with the slabs? We’ll turn you into a supernatural ninja breezing through Black Reef in no time.

Arkane’s Deathloop has been wracking up glowing reviews left, right and centre, including our very own over on Gamebyte. And for those looking for more like Deathloop, we covered some excellent games you should be checking out.

In its time-looping puzzle, there is a lot of choice and combinations to make with the different Slab abilities. To ease the burden, here’s everything you need to know about all of Deathloop’s Slabs and their upgrades.

How To Gain And Upgrade Slabs

For starters, you’ll need to know how to actually acquire slabs and later upgrade them. You will gain a slab for killing each of the eight Visionaries throughout the game. The exceptions for this are Wenjie and Frank. Each Visionary has a specific slab associated with them, which we’ll detail below. Julianna, however, doesn’t have a specific slab associated with her and can drop any of them.

Once you’ve collected the slab from their corpse, tail it to the area’s exit and you can equip it in your loadout. Don’t forget to infuse it if you wish to use it again on future loops!

After gaining the slab power for the first time, killing the same Visionary again will result in you getting an upgrade for that slab. Each slab has four upgrades, meaning you need to kill each Visionary a minimum of five times if you want to maximise your upgrades. That is, unless you get lucky with Julianna.

SHIFT

Shift is the most immediately recognisable of all of Deathloop’s Slabs, as it is essentially a carbon copy of Dishonored’s Blink. This ability allows you to teleport instantly, and is great to reach rooftops, high ledges, or even escape.

You’ll nab this one from Charlie in Updaam at noon who can be found to the left of the map, across the bridge. You’ll want to know that as, like all other Slabs, Shift has four upgrades you can acquire by killing Charlie over and over. However, if you are invaded by Juliana, killing her can gift you Slab upgrades.

Swapper and Dropkick are among the funniest of the upgrades. Swapper allows you to switch places with an NPC, meaning you can throw them into mines, off the edge of a cliff or into water. If you kick whilst in the middle of the shift animation, Dropkick will send enemies flying.

However, my personal favourites are Airborne and Reach. Reach simply extends your reach, meaning higher ledges and farther teleportation is possible. Airborne allows you to freeze mid-air and teleport from there. Combining these two abilities with the Spring Heeled double jump perk, mean there is barely a ledge in Black Reef you can’t reach.

AETHER

For all your stealth nuts out there, Aether is your best friend. It grants you temporary invisibility, and upgrades can turn you into an unnoticed time-looping ninja. You’ll pick this one up from Egor, who can be found in The Complex in the evening.

Aether is extremely useful while infiltrating areas like Aleksis’ party. With a lot of NPC kicking about it’s easy to get spied by someone tucked in a corner, and Aether covers your back.

Erase is probably the worst out Slab upgrade of the lot, as it gets rid of the corpses you leave behind while using the ability. Considering that bodies disappear when you aren’t using it, popping out of Aether to stab someone in the back is usually the way to go. If however, you get yourself in a messy situation, Phase is a great upgrade to acquire. With Phase you won’t become visible upon receiving damage, and will even take less damage while using it.

However, the best combination for Aether has to be Flicker and Ghost. Much like Phase, Flicker doesn’t void your invisibility as soon as you shoot. You will be visible briefly, but will immediately disappear again. This is great for when enemies get a little too close for comfort. Ghost is hands down the best perk for Aether however, as it doesn’t drain power while standing still. This means you can plonk yourself in the middle of an area and scope it out, while completely invisible. And with Flicker you can also take out nearby enemies.

HAVOC

As indicated by the name, Havoc is a power for the more chaotic Deathloop players out their. Havoc not only boost your damage, but also decreases how much damage you can take. This is my least used ability, considering I tend to lean towards stealth, but for those wanting to rip their way through Blackreef, this is the one.

Havoc can be found on Fristad Rock at noon, where you will need to dispose of Fia. The ability is great for those aggressive encounters, but drains power quickly. That’s why you’ll want the Withdrawal ability as soon as possible, as it allows you to extend its use by damaging enemies. For extra length, Bulwark, can work in tandem with Withdrawal as it won’t drain power as you damage enemies. However, with Bulwark, power drains quicker overall.

For those looking to front the charge, Backlash and Euphoria can be a great way to instantly deal with a lot of enemies. Euphoria increases the amount of damage you deal, as you recieve damage. And Backlast let’s out a grenade-like blast when your power finally runs out. Running into a large crowd of enemies with these upgrades is a match made in heaven.

NEXUS

Nexus is another Dishonored copycat, that allows you to link enemies. This means, if placed well, you can take out a full group with a single bullet. Nexus works well in both stealth and aggressive builds.

You’ll have to take out Harriet to receive Nexus, who will be delivering a toxic sermon in Karl’s Bay during the morning. This is another personal favourite of mine, as it leans into the speedier stealth that Deathloop dons. And by linking an NPC to a Visionary, the typically hardier bosses can be taken out with one shot.

Attraction allows your Nexus projectile to hone in on enemies, however, it’s fairly easy to hit as is. Parasite allows you to gain health while damaging enemies under Nexus’ influence. This can be great if you are trying to take down an overwhelming enemy force, however, if playing stealthy, you shouldn’t need too much health.

Influence and Protraction are the upgrades you want to use. Influence allows linked enemies to move around and join up others nearby, spreading the reach of your shot. Protraction works well with this as it drains less power while using Nexus, meaning you have more time to line up your shot, and for enemies to spread the link.

KARNESIS

Karnesis is another chaotic power, and the one you’ve likely seen shown off in all the trailers. It allows you force push enemies back, left or right, up or down, and is generally a blast to use.

Suiting up for a party is the only way to get your hands on Karnesis, as Aleksis burrows himself in Dorsey Manor each evening in Updaam. Karnesis is great if you are getting a tad overwhelmed, as you can send most of your enemies flying.

Flesh Bomb is the most grotesque upgrade as it explodes enemies like a grenade after being thrown by Karnesis. However, if you want to throw enemies around like ragdolls, Slam appropriately slams enemies into the ground upon a second blow. Suspension however, has the opposite effect, as it leaves enemies hovering in the air. Lastly, Zone is the best for crowd control as it allows your ability to push all enemies in front of you away.

The right combination for Karnesis is hard to say as out of all abilities, this one is really just for fun.

Social media influencer Alissa Violet is suing FaZe Clan over “promised shares” that she is yet to receive from the esports organisation.

Violet claimed that she has not received owed shares in the successful esports organisation, which has an estimated value of $300 million. The Washington Post reported that the lawsuit stems from a botched deal carried out in 2018.

The complaint raised by Violet doesn’t specify how much the social media star is looking for in damages. However, with the aforementioned $300 million valuation of FaZe Clan, it isn’t going to be anything to laugh at.

VIOLET SUES FaZe CLAN

The focus of the lawsuit is a deal between Violet, Clout Gang, FaZe Clan and its partner Hubrick Limited. Things get a little messy here, so strap in.

Violet had agreed to transfer shares of Clout Gang, a company she co-founded, over to Hubrick. In return she would receive shares in Hubrick. It appears that members of FaZe Clan also transferred shares over to Hubrick. The partnership between FaZe Clan and Hubrick faded however, leading to FaZe and Violet suing the company for fraud.

An “oral agreement” was reached between Violet and FaZe. Violet would drop her shares in Hubrick and her claim against the company, and receive FaZe stock as compensation. However, despite doing this, Violet reportedly never received the stock she was owed. FaZe Clan has denied any of the allegations made by Violet.

This is the third time FaZe Clan has found itself in court since 2018. The esports organisation was also entangled in a crypto scam over the summer, which lead to the firing of several members. CEO Lee Trink believes the dispute will end “amicably”.

Hopefully, the lawsuit will be resolved quickly, and as Trink hopes, amicably.

Call of Duty Vanguard is arriving in November with an impressive 20 multiplayer maps, and it seems some of those may be maps from the franchise’s past.

Most recent Call of Duty games have included some kind of throwback maps. Cold War featured Express from Black Ops 2. Modern Warfare had Crash from Call of Duty 4. And Nuketown just won’t die.

It seems as though that tradition of old maps will continue with Vanguard when it releases in November. According to a recent datamine, Vanguard will feature maps from both World at War and Modern Warfare 3.

BLASTS FROM THE PAST

VGC reported the names of all 20 maps which will make up Vanguard’s launch. Among them are some we have become familiar with in the recent Vanguard beta, such as Gavutu and the four Champion Hill arenas. However, in amongst the names are Castle, Oasis, Dome and Sub Pen.

Long time Call of Duty fans will recognise Castle, Dome and Sub Pen from World At War. Oasis is a map from Modern Warfare 3 too. If this leak is to be believed, then World At War fans in particular should be happy to see some of their favourite maps return. World At War is quite often forgotten for its multiplayer over the introduction to now-infamous Zombies.

Of course, it’s wise to not get your hopes up just in case. After all, just because the maps share the same name as a previous favourite doesn’t guarantee it will be a remake.

The datamine also revealed all six operators which will launch with the game. Beatrice, Shigernori, Padmavati, Solange, Constanze, and Halima will join the characters featured in Vanguard’s campaign. You can try out operators like Arthur Kingsley and Polina Petrova right now, since the beta was extended by a couple of days.

While a stacked launch is great, many players will be hoping Vanguard’s anti-cheat will be effective enough to tackle hackers. Cheaters already made their way into the game’s beta over the weekend. However, if fixed for launch, Call of Duty fans will be eating their fill of content, both old and new.

Anticipation is building for the next Battlefield, and one talented fan has been celebrating by building some iconic maps out of LEGO bricks.

Despite recently getting pushed back to November 19th, fans are still excited for Battlefield 2042. A lack of communication from EA has been worrying, however, the potential of the latest game seems too great. With 128 players, dynamic environments, and a shake-up of the class system, it is easily one of my most anticipated shooters of the year.

However, one Battlefield fan has taken their excitement to the next level. They have built one of the upcoming maps entirely out of LEGO. And it’s seriously impressive.

LEGO To The Battlefield

Battlefield fan and Lego builder @Taris120_Builds, has been working the Battlefield LEGO game for a while. Taris has recreated maps such as Zavod 311 from Battlefield 4 and Amiens from Battlefield 1. Their work showcases painstaking recreations of fan-favourite maps.

The latest recreation has to be one of their best yet. Recreating the Orbital map, which featured heavily in 2042 trailers, Taris used 7969 pieces for their latest LEGO set. It’s detail showcases the rocket, which has been shown to launch or explode during matches, and the surrounding hills, which featured in some leaked gameplay.

With seven maps arriving on launch for Battlefield 2042, it’ll be great to see more Taris takes. So far they have posted a couple of Battlefield Portal maps, which see returning maps from Battlefield 3. For 2042, they also created the Kaleidoscope map with 9214 bricks. I’d love to see the sand-filled Hourglass map recreated with LEGO.

Players are eager for more details on Battlefield 2042. The beta was originally rumoured to launch around now, however, as of writing, there has still been no word from EA or DICE. Battlefield 2042’s launch is now less than two months away, so I’ll be crossing my fingers and toes for more news soon. In the meantime, we have these incredible Battlefield 2042 LEGO maps from Taris to marvel over.

In a bit of friendly competition, Dr DisRespect called out fellow streamer Scump with a new Call of Duty challenge. Not only did the streamer accomplish it, but they managed to achieve it in eight minutes.

The top Call of Duty streamers are always vying for the top spot. TimTheTatman competed in this year’s Call of Duty League. Dr DisRespect is popping off insane no-scopes in Warzone. And Scump continues to dominate across Call of Duty lobbies. It is fun to see some of these streamers come together and show off their skills on the battlefield.

However, this week Dr DisRespect issued out a Call of Duty challenge to Scump. Scump had to wrack up 25 kills to get a nuke within five matches, and in return would receive a rare Doc Vest. This was no issue for the Call of Duty champion, as he managed to destroy DisRespect’s challenge within 10 minutes.

A CHALLENGE FOR A KING

Scump was blasting his way through the Call of Duty Vanguard beta, which was recently extended. With Doc’s challenge issued, Scump got right to work and it turns out he didn’t even need those five matches.

Scump wreaked havoc across the Vanguard beta, and managed to wrack up those 25 kills within the first match. With the Nuke counting down, the 26-year-old streamer screamed out in celebration. “That’s how it’s done” yelled Scump, and to be honest, I can’t really disagree.

With the challenge complete, Doc put out another tweet congratulating Scump on the win, and confirmed the vest was on its way. Looking at the time stamps on both tweets reveals they are only eight minutes apart. What’s even more impressive is that Scump was half way through a match when issued the challenge. And he still managed to get all 25 kills before it finished. If you want to see Scump getting the nuke, you can check out his stream here, and jump to the five hour mark.

I’d love to see more of these challenges issued out between streamers. It would be great to see TimTheTatman, Dr Lupo and Doc faceoff for the most kills in Warzone.

We were all disheartened to learn that Battlefield 2042’s delay means it’s now a month further away, but it’s not all doom and gloom.

Video game delays are tricky to approach. On the one hand, development teams need as much time as possible to finish and polish a game without overworking themselves. On the other hand, we’ve seen games released in a poor state, despite several delays – looking at you, Cyberpunk.

There can be plenty of reasons for a game’s troubled development, or for a release date becoming a moving goal post. When DICE announced that it was delaying Battlefield 2042 by a month, it said: ‘Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams.

‘Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch.’

Sadly, the development team has not yet been able to return to working in an office environment. As such, the team are finding it much more difficult to get the game into a releasable state than normal.

Should we be worried?

Thankfully, a Senior Developer at DICE has shed more light on the situation. Nathalie Ek, a Senior UX Designer on the Battlefield franchise, says that the challenges of releasing a game from home is far different from just developing a game from home.

‘Developing a game from home was easier than I expected. Releasing a game from home was a lot harder!,’Ek says on Twitter. ‘Not being able to feel that “let’s get sh*t done” atmosphere you get at the office is tough & makes it a lot harder both personally & as a team.’

Another developer at DICE, Jim Hejl, also wants to put fans’ minds at ease. They clarify that Battlefield 2042 ‘isn’t a project in trouble’ and that it ‘just needs a little longer on spin cycle’.

What have we seen so far?

Of what little gameplay we’ve seen so far, the game is shaping up well. Short teaser trailers have revealed glimpses of grapple hook and medic gameplay. Meanwhile, the gunplay is reminiscent of Battlefield 3 and 4 with a fast-firing and punchy weapon model. An open beta should arrive soon, though official dates aren’t confirmed yet.

Battlefield 2042 was due to release on October 22nd, but is now rescheduled to launch on November 19th instead. This puts it two weeks behind Call of Duty: Vanguard, which will release November 5th.

For those hoping to show off the hottest drip in battle royale, you’re in luck. Fortnite is getting fashionable with a new Balenciaga collection.

Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations with big brands. We’ve regularly covered the various pop-culture icons that have made their way to the island. In recent months we’ve seen Wonder Woman, Ariana Grande and Mike Lowry join in.

However, Fortnite has decided to take some real world inspiration with a collection of skins from fashion designers Balenciaga. But for those interested, there are some real-life counterparts out in the wild too, and they cost quite a bit.

Get The Fortnite Drip

Fortnite announced the Balenciaga Fit Set this week, which arrives with apparel, free sprays, and a live “Fortography” campaign. The latest update will also feature a Strange Times Hub, which will allow you to show off your new digs.

All of the clothing and items within the game are based on the real-life fashion line. You can dress yourself up with some Fortnite/Balenciaga clothing, which includes, hats, hoodies, shirts, sunglasses, shoes and more. Sadly though, if you fancy any of the above, you’re going to need to dig deep into those pockets. The Fortnite Balenciaga collection features some unnerving high prices. A plain white hoodie that says “Fortnite” on it? Yeah that’ll be £550 please. A denim jacket with a Fortnite logo on the bag? Better start saving, cause that one’s more expensive than two PS5s.

CHEAP AT THE PRICE

Maybe it’s because I’m typing this up in a pair of old Champion joggers and a five-year-old t-shirt, but these asking prices are wild. But each to their own, and undoubtedly this will be another hit for Fortnite. Out of the 48 clothing items for sale, seven are already sold out. And they only launched today, so you better get in quick!

For those of you not willing to spend upwards of £300 on a baseball cap, the in-game items may be more within your budget. The outfits for the likes of Doggo and Banshee will cost you 1200 and 1500 V-Bucks, which you could pick up for around £20.
