NEW YORK — Food Bank For New York City, the largest hunger-relief organization serving all five boroughs, is calling on Congress to take two critical steps to protect food access for millions of vulnerable New Yorkers:

In one of the richest cities in the world, nearly 1.6 million New Yorkers are facing hunger. And since June 2025, close to 120,000 of them have lost their SNAP benefits — not because they stopped needing help, but because new rules, confusion, and fear pushed them off the rolls. The cost lands on families, bodegas, and whole neighborhoods.
