Boat towing question

Looking at new tucks and reviewing towing capacity. Most brands state in their user's manual that a weight distributing hitch is required for trailers weighing more than 5000lbs. I've never seen a weight distributing tongue on a boat trailer. I've been pulling an 8500 lb boat/trailer for 11 years with a half-ton, and no weight distributing hitch. l'd like to know the logic behin...

Hey all, in the off season here I plan on replacing some old worn out rods for walleye and salmon. Most of my boat rods are a mix of older cabelas depthmaster rods and okuma glt. The eyes keep breaking on the cabelas rods and they are starting to show their age. January 11th Frostbiting for Landlock Salmon on Champlain.....

What a way to start a new year! Sun shining / calm water greeted us at the ramp at 8:15 am. Whenever I get on this boat something special happens and today was no different. 8 salmon made it to the net after 6 hours when we quit at 2:20 pm.
