Well done to Ennis Chess Clubs Niall Whelan who won the Major section at the Sligo Chess and Culture Festival last weekend. Niall had 4 wins in his first 4 games before a last round draw meant he was able to coast to victory on 4.5 from 5, a full point ahead of a group of players tied in 2nd down to 7th. Rounds 3 and 4 of this seasons Munster League took place in Mitchelstown last weekend and there was good performances by all four Ennis teams. Ennis A, for whom Padraig Hughes and Tobias Heydemann made their debuts, had wins over Sarsfields and Cork B to remain in contention in Division 1. The team currently sit second in the table behind CCYMS on game points.
