Every summer, Ewing Park transforms into the heart of Ellwood City as thousands gather for one of the region’s most cherished traditions—the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food & Entertainment Festival.

Now entering its 44th year, the festival continues to showcase the creativity, talent, and community spirit that have defined Ellwood City for generations. Scheduled for July 3-5, 2026, the three-day event brings together artisans, crafters, food vendors, entertainers, musicians, community organizations, and families for a celebration that has become synonymous with the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The marquee highlight of the Festival has always been the finale … the fireworks, which is a major part of the budget.

The festival features continuous live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, delicious food offerings, family-friendly attractions, special events, and the patriotic traditions that residents and visitors have come to expect each year. Held in the beautiful setting of Ewing Park, the festival offers something for every age and interest while serving as a showcase for the community’s vibrant culture and welcoming spirit.

What many festival-goers may not realize, however, is that events of this scale do not happen automatically. Behind every stage performance, vendor booth, family activity, and festival attraction are countless volunteer hours and significant financial commitments.

According to Bonnie Balin, Chairwoman of the Festival Committee, the beloved event is in dire need of donations.

“We are completely non-profit,” she said. “And the Festival has been struggling over the last decade to stay up and running.”

Balin said the festival is not funded by the borough rather by local businesses, sponsors, donors, and community members to remain viable. While attendance is critical to the festival’s success, financial support is equally important. Sponsorships, donations, and business partnerships help offset the costs of entertainment, infrastructure, insurance, equipment, logistics, marketing, and the many behind-the-scenes expenses necessary to produce a high-quality event.

Balin said the Festival is in need of immediate help for 2026 as the committee works to put fundraisers in place for the upcoming year.

Without this financial backing from the community, the festival would face increasing challenges in maintaining the level of programming and attractions visitors have come to enjoy.
