The Ekiti State Executive Council, at its meeting held on Monday, 13th July, 2026, considered and approved a number of policy initiatives and strategic projects aimed at strengthening governance, improving institutional capacity, expanding critical infrastructure, and promoting sustainable socio-economic development across the State.

The following are some of the key decisions reached by the Council:

1. APPROVAL OF ₦381.65 MILLION FOR THREE SOLAR STREETLIGHT PROJECTS IN ADO-EKITI

As part of ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure, strengthen security, and promote sustainable energy solutions, the Ekiti State Executive Council approved a total sum of ₦381,650,327.00 for the installation of solar-powered streetlights at three strategic locations within Ado-Ekiti.
The approved projects are:
• ₦125,439,084.00 for the installation of solar-powered streetlights along major roads in Awedele Community, including the replacement of obsolete conventional streetlights on the Enyo Filling Station–Textile Road, the installation of new streetlights on the community’s inner collector roads, the replacement of faulty streetlights along the New Iyin Road corridor within the Awedele axis, and the EKIRS–Oke Ori Omi–Okesa Overhead Bridge route.
• ₦58,739,075.00 for the installation of solar-powered streetlights on the newly rehabilitated access roads at GRA 3rd Extension, off NTA Road, Ado-Ekiti (Phase III), to complement the completed road infrastructure, improve security, beautify the environment, and stimulate economic activities.
• ₦197,472,168.00 for the installation of solar-powered streetlights along the newly rehabilitated road linking Igirigiri Junction in Odo-Ado to the new Ado-Ekiti Local Government Headquarters to enhance security, improve road safety, encourage commercial activities, and complement the State Government’s investment in modern road infrastructure.
Council noted that the projects are designed to proactively address inadequate street lighting in rapidly developing parts of the State capital, enhance public safety, improve road use, support commercial activities, and provide more durable, energy-efficient and cost-effective street lighting systems.
The Council further approved that all three projects be executed through Direct Labour by the Ekiti State Electricity Board (EKSEB), in recognition of the Board’s proven technical competence and capacity to deliver the projects efficiently. Each of the projects is expected to be completed within three months.
The approvals reaffirm the Oyebanji Administration’s commitment to complementing road infrastructure with modern, renewable-energy street lighting systems that improve security, enhance the urban environment, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life of residents across Ekiti State.

2. APPROVAL OF ₦337.66 MILLION FOR STRATEGIC ELECTRICITY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS ACROSS EKITI STATE

In furtherance of its commitment to improving electricity infrastructure and expanding access to reliable power supply across the State, the Ekiti State Executive Council approved a total sum of ₦337,658,297.65 for four strategic electricity projects to be executed by the Ekiti State Electricity Board (EKSEB) through Direct Labour.
The approved projects are:
• ₦52,480,686.76 for the replacement and upgrade of the damaged 300KVA transformer serving Oke-Oniyo Community (Oke Bola Axis), Ado-Ekiti, with a new 500KVA transformer to restore stable electricity supply, improve security, and stimulate socio-economic activities in the community following a prolonged outage caused by sustained overloading of the existing transformer.
• ₦58,562,044.00 for the replacement of the damaged 500KVA transformer at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, with a higher-capacity 1MVA transformer to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply to critical hospital facilities, including the Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Maternity Ward, thereby enhancing healthcare delivery and patient safety.
• ₦142,988,441.26 for the extension of electricity supply to the Command Academy, Ikogosi-Ekiti, including the installation of a dedicated 500KVA transformer and High-Tension and Low-Tension electricity networks to provide reliable public power supply to the institution, thereby creating a more conducive environment for teaching, learning, and administrative activities.
• ₦83,627,125.63 for the relocation of a section of the Ado–Ilawe 33KV electricity network between Fresh Water School and Crown Polytechnic Junction along Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti, to eliminate recurring faults caused by the existing network alignment and improve the reliability of electricity supply to Ilawe-Ekiti and neighbouring communities, including Erijiyan-Ekiti, Ikogosi-Ekiti, Igbara-Odo, Aramoko-Ekiti and Ijero-Ekiti.
The projects are designed to strengthen the State’s electricity infrastructure, improve service reliability, support critical public institutions, enhance security, stimulate economic activities, and meet the growing electricity demands of communities across Ekiti State.
The Council further approved that all four projects be executed by the Ekiti State Electricity Board (EKSEB) through Direct Labour, in recognition of the Board’s proven technical competence and capacity to deliver the projects efficiently. Each project is expected to be completed within three months.
The approvals also reaffirm the Biodun Oyebanji Administration’s unwavering commitment to investing in modern and resilient electricity infrastructure as a catalyst for improved public service delivery, economic growth, industrial development, quality healthcare, and enhanced living standards for the people of Ekiti State.

3. APPROVAL OF ₦14.31 BILLION FOR STRATEGIC ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

The Executive Council also approved a total sum of ₦14,309,400,731.18 for two major road projects to be undertaken in Ado-Ekiti and Ekiti South-West/Ekiti West axis as part of efforts at improving road infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and accelerating socio-economic development across the State,
The approved projects are:
• ₦12,576,107,119.84 for the reconstruction of the 18.83-kilometre Ilawe–Erijiyan–Ikogosi Road, a strategic inter-community road linking Ekiti South-West and Ekiti West Local Government Areas. The project is expected to improve the movement of people and goods, enhance the security of lives and property, facilitate easier access to the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort and other tourism assets, and stimulate economic activities along the corridor. The project was awarded to Messrs. Dromo International Company Limited, which previously constructed the road and possesses the requisite technical expertise and familiarity with the terrain. The reconstruction will be completed within 16 months, with payments tied to agreed project milestones.
• ₦1,733,293,611.34 for the construction of the 2.24-kilometre Spotless–Assembly of God/Opposite Olaoluwa Muslim Grammar School Road, Ado-Ekiti. The road, which has deteriorated significantly over the years, will be reconstructed to address extensive pavement failure, improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, enhance security, and ease transportation challenges for residents and motorists. Following a competitive selective tendering process, the contract was awarded to Messrs. Garden of Mercy Engineering Limited, the most responsive bidder. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Both projects are critical interventions designed to improve transportation infrastructure, promote economic development, strengthen access to public facilities and tourist destinations, and improve the quality of life of residents.
The approvals further reaffirm the Biodun Oyebanji Administration’s unwavering commitment to sustained investment in durable road infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth, rural and urban connectivity, improved security, and inclusive development across Ekiti State.

4. APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTMENT OF PRINCE FAGBAYI FEYISAYO IGE AS THE OLUMOJO OF IMOJO-EKITI

The Ekiti State Executive Council approved the appointment of Prince Fagbayi Feyisayo Ige as the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area, following the successful completion of the statutory and traditional processes prescribed under the Chiefs Law of Ekiti State.
Council noted that the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti is a recognized chieftaincy under the Chiefs Law, Cap. C5, Laws of Ekiti State (2012), with a duly registered Chieftaincy Declaration establishing two ruling houses of Fabunmi and Atoriseyasokunrin, as well as six kingmakers responsible for the selection of a new traditional ruler.
The stool became vacant following the demise of the immediate past Olumojo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olatunji Samuel, on 29th January, 2024. In accordance with the Registered Chieftaincy Declaration, the Fabunmi Ruling House, being the next entitled ruling house, was directed by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Home Affairs to commence the process of producing a successor.
