Columbus Clippers (52-47) – AAA

COL 6 – STP 5

The Columbus Clippers continued their series against the Minnesota Twins Triple A affiliate, the St. Paul Saints. Logan Allen got the start last night, going 4.2 innings. LTA gave up 2R/ER on five hits and two walks, striking out nine batters. Hunter Stanley improved to 1-1 on the season, earning the win. Stanley finished the fifth and pitched the sixth inning, only walking two batters and striking out one. Codi Heuer and Daniel Espino both worked an inning of scoreless baseball. Alaska Abney had a rough go of things, allowing three earned runs on four hits without recording a single out. Steven Pérez come on the finish the ninth inning. Pérez allowed one of the inherited runners to score on a RBI groundout, but struck out the remaining two batters to seal the victory.

The Clippers first scored in the top of the third. Kody Huff and Milan Tolentino drew back-to-back walks to start the inning. Cooper Ingle grounded into a double play, but Huff was able to advance to third. Angel Genao hit a RBI double to center, tying the game at one run. Kahlil Watson singled on a liner to right, scoring Angel to put the Clippers up one run. In the top of the fifth, Milan Tolentino hit a one-out double to center and Angel Genao singled on a grounder to center to regain the lead from the Saints. In the top of the seventh, Alfonsin Rosario and Kody Huff hit back-to-back doubles to give the Clippers an insurance run. The next inning, Juan Brito hit a two-out triple to right and scored on a wild pitch. In the top of the ninth, Columbus scored their sixth and final run, ultimately preventing the game from going into extras. Kody Huff lead things off with a triple to center. Cooper Ingle hit an RBI single to bring Huff home.

Akron RubberDucks (43-50) – AA

ALT 4 – AKR 2

The RubberDucks and Altoona Curve went into extras with Altoona getting the best of Akron. Rafe Schlesinger had a solid, quality start. Schlesinger went six full innings of work, only allowing a solo home run on four hits and two walks. Schlesinger struck out three batters. Lefty Adam Tulloch pitched the seventh and started the eighth inning, keeping it scoreless. Jack Jasiak pitched the rest of the eighth and the ninth. Jasiak gave up a solo shot, resulting in his second blown save of the season. Zane Morehouse earned the loss, giving up 2R/1ER in the tenth with the ghost runner accounting for the unearned run.

Both Akron runs came in the bottom of the fifth. Christian Knapczyk hit a lead off home run to tie the game.

Jaison Chourio and Nolan Schubart drew back-to-back, one-out walks. Bennett Thompson grounded into a force out, advancing Chourio to third, leaving Schubart out at second, and putting Bennett at first. Dean Curley singled on a sharp liner to left, scoring Chourio and giving Akron the lead.

Lake County Captains (52-38) – High A

LC 3 – FW 8

Ryan Degges took the mound Friday night for the Lake County Captains. Degges gave up one run on two hits and a walk and struck out three in his four innings of work. Jervis Alfaro fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss. He pitched 2.2 innings, giving up 4R/1ER on six hits and walk. A throwing error in the fifth inning by left fielder Esteban González allowed two runs to score to tie the game. Third baseman Jeffrey Mercedes committed a fielding error in the bottom of the sixth, allowing a runner to reach who would ultimately score in the next at bat. The Captains committed three errors on the night, two of which allowed unearned runs to score. Josh Harlow came on with two outs in the seventh. Harlow got the out, but ended up giving up three runs in the ninth inning on two hits and two walks.

The Caps started the scoring off immediately. Welbyn Francisca hit a one-out single to short and, with two outs, stole second base. Juneiker Caceres drew a walk to put runners on first and second for Jeffrey Mercedes. Jeffrey doubled on a line driver to left to score Francisca.

In the top of the third, with the game tied, Jace LaViolette smacked a single to right. Juneiker Caceres drew another walk to move LaViolette into scoring position. With two outs, Tyler Howard singled on a fly ball to left. Both LaViolette and Caceres scored on the hit.

Hill City Howlers (40-54) – Single A

The Delmarva Shorebirds beat the Hill City Howlers in a five-run Friday night loss. Ryan Prager fell to 2-2 on the season after allowing four runs on four hits and three walks. In his 4.1 innings of work. Prager struck out three batters. Zane Petty gave up five runs in his two innings of work. He allowed two hits, three walks, and struck out two batters. Chase Mobley finished the seventh inning and pitched the eighth, allowing two hits and two walks, but not allowing a run. Angel Perez closed the game, walking one and giving up a hit, but also not allowing any further damage.

In the top of the first, Dauri Fernandez drew a lead off walk. Jose Pirela hit a single, but was thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double. Fernandez, however, successfully reached third base on the hit. With two outs, Riley Nelson reached on a throwing error that scored Fernandez from third. By the top of the seventh, the Shorebirds took a eight run lead. The Howlers tried to put together a rally in the bottom of the ninth. Cannon Peebles and Riley Nelson drew back-to-back walks to lead off the inning. With one out and Yeiferth Castillo up to bat, both runners were able to advance on a balk. Castillo hit the ball and reached on a fielding error to load the bases. The Delmarva pitcher walked in a run, hitting Reiner Herrera and keeping the bases loaded. A wild pitch scored one more run, but the Howlers fell short of an impossible rally. Jhorvic Abreus grounded out for the second out, and Yerline Luis was called out on strikes to end the game.
