This may not seem like news. In fact, it shouldn’t be news at all. Many of the historic sites in the National Park Service were established to commemorate and highlight the stories of African Americans. Of course, this Black History Month arrives after one of the most difficult years in the agency’s history—a year that included massive layoffs and severe budget cuts.
