A 52-year-old man was arrested Saturday for allegedly getting into a vehicle occupied by a woman and making threats only to have her husband pull him out and hit him multiple times, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Following an investigation, CCSO deputies arrested Elfego Escobar from Reno for alleged felony burglary of a motor vehicle, gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Winnie Lane for a fight at 1:03 p.m. Officers arrived and saw a man in a blue shirt laying on the ground, holding his head with an apparent injury.

A deputy was advised the other subject was inside the address. The deputy contacted the man inside, who was standing up and holding a female, later identified as his wife, who was visibly crying and sobbing.

The deputy asked the man inside what happened. He said went inside the restaurant to get food and when he came out he saw a man, identified as suspect Escobar, inside his vehicle that was parked outside.

The man said he saw his wife trying to honk the horn of their car while Escobar was holding his hand over her mouth and holding her wrist to keep her from honking the horn. He said he dropped his bag of food, opened the driver’s door and pulled Escobar out of the car. He said he punched Escobar two or three times where the suspect then fell to the ground.

The deputy tried to speak with the woman but she was too upset and shaken to speak at that time. The husband advised his wife was pregnant, the report states.

Carson City Fire Department was called to check on the woman and the suspect. A deputy spoke with a worker at the restaurant to attempt to get camera footage of the incident in the parking lot. The deputy was informed the camera only took still photos and he did not have any pictures of the incident, according to the report.

The deputy asked the employee if he saw what happened. He said he saw the man come into get his food and when he walked out there was someone in his car. He said he saw the man drop the food on the ground, pull a man out of the car and hit him multiple times. He said the man fell to the ground behind his car, the report states.

CCFD advised suspect Escobar would be taken to hospital to be examined for injuries. While waiting for CCFD to transport the suspect, a medic came and asked for Escobar’s phone number. The deputy told him he did not have it but would look for it.

The deputy went to the area around the victim’s car and looked for a phone. The deputy asked the man if he could look inside the vehicle for a phone. The man said yes. The deputy opened the driver’s side front door and saw a phone and a pair of black sunglasses sitting in the driver’s seat cushion, according to the report. The deputy asked the husband if they belonged to him. He said no. The deputy took photos of the phone and glasses inside the car and then followed CCFD to the hospital.

Deputies arrived and asked suspect Escobar if he had any reason to be in the victim’s vehicle. He said no. The deputy asked him if he knew why his phone and sunglasses would be inside the vehicle. The suspect said no. The deputy showed the suspect the glasses and phone and asked if they were his. He said yes.

The deputy asked another deputy who was conducting interviews if Escobar said anything to the female victim. She said Escobar told her something like he would kill her while he was holding her wrist and covering her mouth inside the vehicle, the report states.

Escobar was arrested for alleged false imprisonment, burglary of a motor vehicle and battery. Bail: $6,000.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 12 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 12 for a misdemeanor warrant alleging violation of conditions. Bail: $1,000 cash.

— A 65-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 11, 1:25 a.m. for suspicion of unlawful use of an emergency telephone number, a gross misdemeanor offense. According to the booking report, the woman has called 911 multiple times over multiple days in a row, admitting to calling 911 to contact a deputy. She was informed multiple times to not call unless an emergency was present. Bail: $2,500.

— A 29-year-old Dayton man was arrested July 10 for misdemeanor unlawful use of a phone while driving, DUI, open container, operating an unregistered vehicle and no proof of insurance.

According to the booking report, a deputy was patrolling the area of North Carson Street and Bath Street when they observed a vehicle without a license plate, operated by a man driving at a high rate of speed while holding a cell phone in his right hand.

The deputy made a traffic stop at West John and North Curry Street and made contact with the driver and sole occupant, who said he was on the phone while driving and that he was on the phone with his mom. He then said that he was not doing very well and that he had just left the golf course, the report states.

The deputy asked for his registration and insurance. The man told the deputy it was his friend’s truck and that it was most likely not registered. The man could not provided current proof of insurance.

As the deputy was speaking with the man, they could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The deputy asked how much he had to drink. The man said he had an IPA beer at the golf course. The deputy asked if he was willing to submit to field sobriety tests. He ultimately said yes, the report states. During the tests he showed signs of impairment. He provided a primary breath test of .132 and was arrested. During inventory of the truck a deputy located open containers, with small alcohol bottles and different types of beer. The man consented to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $2,462.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 10 for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the booking report, a deputy observed a SUV traveling on Sonoma Street approaching the intersection of Saliman Road. The vehicle did not make a complete stop at or before the limit line. The SUV was also displaying an expired temporary moving permit. The deputy activated their lights and initiated a traffic stop.

The deputy made contact with the driver, who stated her boyfriend had pushed her and she left the residence. Once she made that statement, she became reluctant at first to provide a room number at the Motel 6 where they were staying, according to the report.

Deputies interviewed the woman, who said they had been staying at the motel. She stated she had observed the man texting his ex-wife because she is single now. She stated she confronted him about this and a verbal argument ensued and that she called him a ship jumper.
