I want to change this old Chinese elm. I can see a few spots where I believe it would back bud. Want to create more balance with alternating branches. In the middle. Would removing some of the growth up top promote buds in the middle of the tree? My understanding is CEs back bud (and propagate) easily but aside from this one I have never really worked with them.
