After building up a rim brake Cannondale Synapse and getting caught in the rain several times, I decided to build a drop bar bike with discs that would allow for comfortable long days in the saddle. Trying to keep my Merz as an early 70s time capsule means using toe clips and straps. I have a triple problem with the ones I'm using though:

1. They aren't "period"

2. The Merz bottom bracket is quite low, so the clips get a lot of contact with the ground if I don't get my foot in in the first pedal rotation
