Workshops in Swakopmund

During August and September, Trauma Healing Network (THN) conducted three workshops at Open Door Education Centre (ODEC) in Swakopmund. The workshops focused on personal growth, healthy relationships, and emotional well-being.

One of the workshops, “Growing into a Healthy Adult,” focused on helping participants understand personal development and the importance of growing into emotionally healthy adults. The workshop was attended by 22 participants.

Other workshops included “Men, Masculinity and Fatherhood,” which focused on men, boys, and the role of positive masculinity and fatherhood, where only men attended the event, and the other workshop was “Women Growing: Standing Strong in Life and Relationships,” which encouraged women to build resilience, strengthen their personal growth, and develop healthy relationships.

All three workshops were well attended and provided valuable opportunities for learning, reflection, and personal development. The workshops were organized by ODEC in collaboration with THN, demonstrating a shared commitment and partnership to supporting the emotional and personal well-being of individuals and communities in Swakopmund.

A Story of Four Friends (S4F’s) Training

Trauma Healing Network (THN) continues to bring A Story of Four Friends program to schools, communities, and churches. The sessions are facilitated by trained THN facilitators and aim to help children understand, identify, and express their emotions in healthy ways.

During this period, THN trained five volunteers who will continue the program in their respective communities and other settings where they work with children. The training focused on understanding children’s emotions and equipping volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to support children’s emotional well-being.

The volunteers showed great enthusiasm and a strong passion for working with children. They were eager to begin facilitating the program and to put their newly acquired skills into practice.

Healing Retreats

During August and September, Trauma Healing Network (THN) conducted two Healing Retreats at Hephzibah Mental Health and Wellness Centre in Windhoek with 24 participants, as well as a Healing Retreat at the Namibian Correctional Services with 12 female inmates.

The retreats were well received and provided safe spaces for participants to share their personal stories, trauma experiences, and healing journeys. Through these sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of trauma, how it affects people in different ways, and the importance of healing and emotional well-being.
