The Russian LGBT network is closing, following further legal persecution by the stuttering Putin regime.

In a statement to social media they posted:

THIS IS A DIFFICULT DECISION. WE CANNOT CONTROL THE REPRESSIVE ENVIRONMENT, BUT WE CAN DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO AVOID CREATING ADDITIONAL RISKS FOR PEOPLE. PEOPLE’S SAFETY IS ABOVE ALL ELSE FOR US. The Russian LGBT network is closing. THIS MATERIAL (INFORMATION) HAS BEEN PRODUCED, DISTRIBUTED AND/OR SENT A FOREIGN AGENT OF THE RUSSIAN LGBT NETWORK, OR RELATED TO THE ACTIVITIES OF FOREIGN AGENT OF THE RUSSIAN LGBT NETWORK.

“For many years, the Russian LGBT Network has been bringing together initiatives, activists, and activists, and has also been helping queer people across the country. However the “extremist” status makes the previous public format of work impossible: any connection with the organisation could create additional risks for the people we seek to support and protect.

“We made this decision after a thorough risk assessment. Continuing public activities could pose threats to those who participated in the organisation’s work, supported it, or received assistance. We cannot control the repressive environment, but we can do everything possible to avoid creating additional risks for people.

“People’s safety is above all else.

“The main focus in the history of the Russian LGBT network has always been people. People who sought help. People who provided assistance. People who stayed by their side during the most difficult moments. People who created connections in places where the state consistently tried to isolate, intimidate, and make the LGBTQ community invisible. We thank everyone who was part of this work. Everyone who trusted us. Everyone who supported us. Everyone who made possible what often seemed impossible.

“The Russian LGBT network may close. But you cannot destroy dignity, solidarity, and people’s right to be themselves.

“Take care of yourself. From this moment on, the Russian LGBT Network will no longer carry out public activities: the organisation is officially closing. The activities of the activists and activist women of the Russian LGBT Network will cease. No one will represent the organisation anymore. In the near future, the organisation’s social media accounts will be deleted. Please read our leaflet about ‘LGBT extremism’.”
