Porsche has increased its stake in Manthey Racing GmbH to 67 percent. The news landed right after CEO Michael Leiters, who joined from McLaren in January and was previously Ferrari’s chief technology officer, presented a plan to build fewer cars and make more money.

The Plan Is “Value Over Volume”

At an investor day, Leiters said the average price of Porsche’s top models should rise from about €270,000 ($306,000) this year to over €330,000 ($374,000) by 2030, roughly 20 percent. Top models would grow from about a third of the lineup to 45 percent, and break-even would fall below 200,000 cars, against 279,449 deliveries last year. The operating margin fell from 18 percent in 2023 to 1.1 percent last year, and Porsche now targets 10 to 15 percent by 2030. Autoblog has tracked the price hikes already rolling through the lineup.

Manthey now sits under a new “Home of Sports Cars” division alongside Sonderwunsch, Exclusive Manufaktur and Heritage. Porsche says it plans special low-volume models, performance kits and exclusive track experiences with Manthey, building on nine joint kits since 2020, including the Taycan Turbo GT that reclaimed the Nürburgring EV record. On Friday at 13:30 CEST (7:30 a.m. ET), Manthey will unveil two anniversary special models at Hockenheim. Nothing has been confirmed about what they are.

One Instagram post argues that a loaded 911 Turbo S could pass $400,000, and that if new Porsches get pricier, bigger and more digital, the fixed supply of naturally aspirated, manual and analog cars will only get more expensive.

That is a prediction, not data, and the $400,000 figure doesn’t match Porsche’s guidance. The target is a roughly 20 percent rise in the average price of top models, and Edmunds lists the 2026 911 Turbo S at $272,650 including destination, so a straight 20 percent would land near $327,000 before options. Those can add up fast: We maxed out a 911, and the options cost $98,000. Porsche hasn’t said which models will rise or by how much, so the used-market effect remains an open question.
