Ayre Codex and Balanced Headphone Cable
I just upgraded my DAC to an Ayre Codex. Wow! The headphone output is an improvement for me, too (surprisingly, over the headphone output of my ARC SP20).

My retreat from a streamer to a basic preamp
I tried an Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer to worked as advertised and sound fine. My conclusion is that if I were to stream from a streaming service -- which I'm not a present -- I tried the service's browser or Windows app before resorting to a streamer device.
