After trying to get the model finished today I had a couple of issues that have finally killed the project, the first one being that the Humbrol enamel paint still feels ‘soft’ and during handling there was dust embedding itself into the paint. I tried to remove it by polishing the paint but this just removed the paint in places and I’m not stripping the model and respraying ...

Time to get this finished;

The paintwork (Humbrol Enamel No.3 Brunswick Green) is the best I can get after three attempts so it will have to do. The brass bits are also being painted with Humbrol (acrylic Gen 2 No.54) so it will look better after a few coats.

I tried to polish the model a couple of times but ended up rubbing the paint off raised detail...

After washing down the AMT ’34 Ford Pickup I decided to spray the camo on the Schwimmwagen;

This was done at a low pressure using Tamiya XF-89 Dark Green 2 and my own mix for the red/brown as I find the Tamiya colour a bit on the orange side. The wheels were then sprayed dark grey as period photos show this on some vehicles and it makes a nice contrast.

Apart from the wheels and a couple of other bits to add, the build is pretty much done;

For some reason the chrome plating took a while to come off the wheels after being put in bleach and the reason they are not in the picture (as they are drying out.

The bench seat for the cab had no detail whatsoever so I scribed some lines in to jazz it up a bit;

Did it again! Needed some paint for the AMT 1/25 ’34 Ford Pickup and came home with this;

Another AMT relic from 1960…at least you get two full kits in the box. I really like the hotrod best and have been wanting to build one for years so today is the day lol.
