SANTA FE, N.M. — New Mexico Department of Justice Attorney General Raul Torrez has filed a federal lawsuit against two longtime associates of Jeffrey Epstein, alleging they helped facilitate and financially benefit from Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.

The lawsuit names Epstein’s former attorney, Darren Indyke, and accountant, Richard Kahn, along with the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein and the 1953 Trust, which controls assets tied to the estate.

According to the complaint, state investigators allege Indyke and Kahn knowingly used their positions to help finance, manage, and conceal activities connected to Epstein’s trafficking operation. The lawsuit further claims both men held key leadership roles overseeing financial accounts and authorizing transactions tied to Epstein’s network.

State officials allege Indyke handled the transfer of ownership of Zorro Ranch, Epstein’s New Mexico property, to an Epstein-controlled company in 2011. The complaint also alleges Indyke received nearly $16 million from Epstein, while Kahn received more than $10 million between 2011 and 2019.

The lawsuit was filed under the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act and the New Mexico Racketeering Act. The state is asking the court to:

Prevent estate payments to Indyke and Kahn while the litigation is ongoing.
Restrict their ability to authorize or receive distributions from the estate.
Declare that both men engaged in racketeering and trafficking-related activities.
Require them to divest interests connected to Epstein’s estate.
Award compensatory damages, punitive damages, restitution, and disgorgement of assets to survivors.

Attorney General Torrez said the legal action is intended to hold accountable not only Epstein but also those who allegedly enabled and profited from his criminal enterprise.

The New Mexico Department of Justice said its criminal investigation remains ongoing.
